Report: Arsenal captain Fabregas has told family & friends he will join Barcelona
The Spanish press have once again linked Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas with a summer move to former club Barcelona.
El Mundo Deportivo report this morning that Fabregas "has told friends and family that he has come to a four-year agreement with Barcelona and hopes to leave Arsenal before the World Cup."
The Catalan paper add that the only thing missing from the deal is a transfer agreement between Barcelona and Arsenal but Arsene Wenger knows of Fabregas’ desire to rejoin his old team and will not stand in his way.
A host of other clubs are tracking developments including Real Madrid who have prepared a massive contract for Fabregas. Manchester City and Inter Milan have also contacted the Spanish playmaker’s agent but he is set on joining Barcelona and will not play for another team in England other than Arsenal.
Fabregas reportedly wants to leave Arsenal in the right manner and will not publicly press for a deal. El Mundo Deportivo speculate that a fee of 40 million euros should be enough to secure his signing and the deal may include Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure heading to the Emirates.
The midfield playmaker enjoyed an outstanding season for Arsenal, scoring 19 goals in 35 games, contributing 12 assists.
