  • Mexico: Bruce, can you play midfield?

    Mexico short of midfielders

Mexico have named only five recognised midfielders in their 26-man provisional squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
Coach Javier Aguirre has included a number of defenders capable of filling in - including Rafael Marquez, Juan Carlos Valenzuela and Adrian Aldrete - but the only midfielders in the squad are Dos Santos brothers Jonathan and Giovani, Andres Guardado, Gerrardo Torrado and Israel Castro.
Miguel Sabah's absence was confirmed with the Morelia striker suffering with a tendon injury.
Mexico have been drawn in Group A alongside Uruguay, France and host nation South Africa, who they face in the opening match of the tournament on 11 June.

Mexico provisional squad: Oscar Perez (Chiapas), Guillermo Ochoa (America), Luis Ernesto Michel (Guadalajara); Rafael Marquez (Barcelona), Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart), Francisco Rodriguez, Carlos Salcido (both PSV Eindhoven), Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar), Paul Aguilar (Pachuca), Efrain Juarez (Pumas UNAM), Jonny Magallon (Guadalajara), Juan Carlos Valenzuela (America), Jorge Torres Nilo (Atlas), Adrian Aldrete (Morelia); Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna), Jonathan dos Santos (Barcelona), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Israel Castro (Pumas UNAM), Giovani dos Santos (Galatasaray, on loan from Tottenham); Pablo Barrera (Pumas UNAM), Adolfo Bautista, Alberto Medina (both Guadalajara), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Veracruz), Carlos Vela (Arsenal), Javier Hernandez (Manchester United), Guillermo Franco (West Ham).

Los Putos Asked Me To Try Out....

However, I was asked to leave when I arrived for the tryouts wearing a University Of Arizona T-shirt.

Reminds me of a story when I was in Portmore visiting Indy City. I was having lunch at Port Henderson Mall, and someone introduced himself as a coach for another Portmore team.

I said, "Don't worry, Coach said he will never put me in a game. Nobody wants to carry me off the field."

Pity, was hoping you could help out the Mexicans, seeing that they're your favourite team.
