Gallas ready to quit Arsenal - Exclusive

Published 23:00 04/05/10 by John Cross

William Gallas is refusing to commit himself to Arsenal after the latest round of contract talks ended in stalemate.

The Frenchman is now edging closer to a summer exit after Paris Saint Germain offered him a two-year contract, while Roma, Juventus and AC Milan are also interested.

The former Gunners captain, who has hinted to friends that he will quit this summer, refused to discuss his future. He said: "I have no comment to make. My goal is to participate in the World Cup."

Manager Arsene Wenger has set Gallas a deadline of May 30 to sign a new contract - or Arsenal will start planning without him and sign a replacement.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Andrey Arshavin: I Will Leave Arsenal For Barcelona In The Summer

Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has claimed that he is set to sensationally depart the Emirates in the summer and join Barcelona.

The Russian recently claimed that it would be the pinnacle of any player's career to feature for the Catalan giants, prompting his manager Arsene Wenger to express disappointment that the player seemed to want to move.

And Arshavin also claims that Gael Clichy will be joining him in swapping London for Catalonia.

"I am going to Barcelona in the summer," said the Russian, according to The People.

"I have always dreamed about going to Spain and playing for the best team in the world.

''They were unsure about me when I was playing in Russia but I have shown them that I'm the real deal and I know they are ready to talk to me.

"I want to play for the top team and be trying to win every competition, I don't think you can rate one better than the other, it is all about winning. I want to play for them and that is never going to change.

"I know Gael Clichy would love to play out there as well, and he would work well in their team."

Arshavin is also unfazed by the competition for places he would face at Camp Nou.

"It would be tough trying to compete with Xavi and Iniesta but that is the competition I want, I don't want to walk into a team," he added.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

gallas can and should go....i hope the arshavin thing is "taken out of context" because for the last 5 years every year has been a "rebuilding" year.

the way the gunners develope players there needs to be some stability over a 3-5 year period fergie has done that for the longest time without any real drama and so he has continued to win things.

          Arshavin slams Barcelona quotes

Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has issued a statement on his official website rubbishing claims questioning his Gunners future.
The Russian playmaker was quoted as saying last week that joining Barcelona - who eliminated Arsenal from this season's Champions League and who continue to court Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas - would be the "pinnacle of his career."
          NEWS: Arshavin blames mistranslation
Arshavin insisted that his words in Russian has been mistranslated into English, only for a second article to emerge from The People, quoting the 28-year-old as saying:
"I am going to Barcelona in the summer. I have always dreamed about going to Spain and playing for the best team in the world.
''They were unsure about me when I was playing in Russia but I have shown them that I'm the real deal and I know they are ready to talk to me."
However, the former Zenit St Petersburg star - who has scored 15 league goals for the Gunners - has now moved to end all talk about him possibly leaving Arsene Wenger's side during the close-season.
"Over the past few days we have received hundreds of letters from Arsenal fans with requests to comment on Andrey Arshavin’s interview to the British edition of The People magazine. Andrey Arshavin hasn’t given any interviews or communicated with any representatives of this tabloid," read the statement.
"The article caused a storm of fans’ indignation and outrage. Andrey is a player of Arsenal. So he is responsible for the honour and dignity of the club not only during the game, but also in life."
Arshavin also cleared up confusion regarding his former agent Dennis Lachter, who Arshavin claimed he had parted company with last summer, only for Lachter to swiftly deny it.
          NEWS: Arshavin parts with agent
          NEWS: Lachter denies Arshavin split
"Dennis Lachter has not been representing my interests for a year now, he is not my agent," Arshavin said.
"He does not have any information regarding my prospects and career plans, so his statements about my future endeavors shouldn’t be taken for a fact or paid attention to."
