National coach Theodore Whitmore will depart the island on Sunday March 7 for a seven-day FA Advanced Coaching Workshop and UEFA Preparatory Course to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from March 8-14, 2010.
The course will be put on by the Football Association in partnership with CONCACAF and will focus on the technical and tactical aspects of 11-a-side football. It will have specific reference to the design of role specific practice and Pattern recognition and modern trends.
This course will also constitute the preparatory course for the UEFA A Licence delivered by The Football Association. Attendance on the former course is now a mandatory requirement prior to enrolment on the UEFA A Licence. Candidates will be assessed against the set standards and criteria of the qualification.
Participants in this course would have successfully completed the FA / CONCACAF International Licence Course and have been recommended by their National Associations. The course will be delivered by Steve Rutter and Henry Millington.
Rutter is the Coach Education Manager at The Football Association. He instructs on all levels of coaching awards including the UEFA Pro Licence and has worked extensively around the world in the field of coach education. Previous to his current role, Rutter worked in both international and professional club football including participating in a number of UEFA Championship Finals.
Millington is an experienced ‘A’ Licensed Coach and a Licensed Coach Educator delivering Levels 1, 2, and 3 CCF, International License, Youth and 'A' License Coaching Awards. He is a graduate in Education and has taught in Further Education for 20 years and spent the last 3 years with Portsmouth FC Academy as the Head of Education, Children’s Services Officer and Academy Coach.
Whilst with Portsmouth, Millington delivered BTEC and NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Sports Performance & Excellence to the Academy Scholars. He also wrote Long Term Player Development Programmes for players aged 9 - 16 years and Mentoring and Training Programmes for the Academy Coaches.
This Course forms part of the agreement between The Football Association and CONCACAF to assist the development of football in the CONCACAF region. The programme is funded by The FA’s International Development Programme.
