    Pienaar fancies chances

Steven Pienaar says he is confident that his South Africa side can progress into the second round of the World Cup finals.

The hosts were pitched against Mexico, Uruguay and France in Group A and they kick off the tournament on 11th June against the Mexicans.

The South Africans were seeded as the host nation, meaning they avoided tournament favourites such as Brazil, Spain and England, although the Everton man admitted the prospect of playing France was a tough one.

Mixed reaction as hosts face tough draw

To say that South Africans greeted Friday's draw in mixed fashion would be something of an understatement, for opinion is already raging in the streets, bars and, of course, the media.

Cape Town's Weekend Argus Saturday lead was among the more negative: "Bafana Bafana were handed a draw from hell when grouped with France, Mexico and Uruguay for next year's World Cup."

But some fans have tried to put a positive spin on the challenges of Group A, where the World Cup hosts must face three sides ranked in FIFA's top 20.

              You are bank on!
...yet I would not be surprised if they lose tough games as FIFA's politics kicks in and they get some strange calls! ...still will not help the players are out of their depth!

...as I said, I look for Argentina to get better and better as they progress! Yup...they shall advance easily from the group.
