    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">The latest in what has been a series of incidents took place at the offices of the WFA just before noon yesterday, when president Everton Tomlinson claimed he was verbally abused by former national coach Wendell Downswell, who is running for the post of first vice-president on the Junior Francis slate. </SPAN>
    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Tomlinson claims he has filed a complaint with the police after the alleged abuse. </SPAN><SPAN id=Ar0270003 style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"></SPAN>
    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">When contacted, Downswell vigorously denied the allegations saying: “I did not do anything like that... the only thing I told him was that the constitution states that the clubs can change their delegates at any time before the election and that the WFA does not have their own constitution, so they use the JFF’s which states that up to the day of the elections, delegates can be changed.” </SPAN>
    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Downswell suggested that Tomlinson is nervous ahead of tonight’s poll, having recognised the strength of the opposition. </SPAN>
    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Dale Spence, president of the Manchester FA and chairman of the South Central Confederation and ally of the incumbent, has been asked to oversee the voting, but Tomlinson </SPAN><SPAN id=Ar0270004 style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">said the Francis team wants someone else to observer proceedings on their behalf. </SPAN>
    <SPAN style="TEXT-JUSTIFY: newspaper; TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Despite the rumblings leading up to the elections, Tomlinson remains confident of victory and claims his record of “performance and achievements” will swing the vote in his favour. </SPAN>

    <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 700; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Everton</SPAN> Tomlinson will be aiming to win a fourth consecutive term as president of the Westmoreland Football Association (WFA) tonight when the association holds its much-anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM) at <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 700; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Frome</SPAN> Sports Club, starting at 7:30 p.m.

    Tomlinson, who is being challenged for the position by businessman Junior Francis, the founder of reigning parish champions <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Negril</SPAN> FC, said that based on the work he has done to bring the parish's football to prominence within recent years he is quite confident that the <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">affiliates</SPAN> will stay in his corner.

    "My record is there to show, when I took over as president nothing was happening in the parish," said Tomlinson. "Today we have an excellent youth programme, we have managed to attract quality sponsorship and the affiliates are happy with my leadership."
