Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs was sent for a precautionary X-ray after injuring his ankle during England Under-21s' draw against Lithuania.
The 20-year-old hurt his right ankle in a tackle and was forced off after 21 minutes of the European Under-21 Championship qualifier in Vilnius.
He will to be assessed by Arsenal's medical staff on Wednesday.
Gibbs has been deputising in for first-choice Gunners left-back Gael Clichy, who is currently nursing a back injury.
A Football Association spokesman told BBC Sport that it did not look as though Gibbs had seriously damaged his ankle.
But if the Lambeth-born defender is ruled out by the problem, it may give Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a defensive headache.
With Clichy still some way from returning to full fitness, Wenger's only obvious options at left-back would be Mikael Silvestre or Armand Traore.
Silvestre, 32, has made two appearances this season - both in the Carling Cup and at centre-back - while 20-year-old Traore, who spent last season on loan at Portsmouth, has been restricted to only one outing, also in the Carling Cup.
Gibbs featured in 21 matches for Arsenal last term and has played six games this time round.
He impressed at last summer's European Under-21 Championship in Sweden, where England were beaten by Germany in the final, and has been tipped for a full international call-up.
Arsenal - already without the injured Johan Djourou, Denilson, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner - confirmed on Monday that Robin van Persie would be out for six weeks with ankle ligament damage.
Van Persie partially ruptured ligaments in his right ankle during the Netherlands' friendly against Italy in Pescara.
Arsenal travel to Sunderland on Saturday and then face Standard Liege in the Champions League on Tuesday before hosting Chelsea the following Sunday.
Wenger's men are second in the Premier League, five points adrift of leaders Chelsea but with a game in hand.
