A group called United For Jamaica is collecting gently used soccer shoes, youth size 8 through adult size 4, to give to young Jamaican children. Their goal is 100 pair.
Having bought a few pair of youth soccer shoes for Jamaican kids in the past, size 4 should be good for children in the fourth grade, maybe the fifth grade.
I know several of our members in the USA are involved with youth programs. When the season starts next spring, in the northern USA, the kids will have outgrown their shoes.
As we all know, many Jamaican neighborhood pitches are bare dirt, strewn with rocks, broken glass, and animal poop. I would not want my children, if I had any, playing barefoot.
