was certain the first to be fired would have been Leonardo at AC Milan.

    Napoli sack Donadoni, appoint Mazzarri

Struggling Napoli have today sacked manager Roberto Donadoni and replaced him with Walter Mazzarri.

The San Paolo team lost 2-1 at Roma on Sunday, an outcome that marked their fourth defeat of the campaign. Napoli lie in 15th position in the Serie A standings, having collected seven points from seven games.

A statement from the club read: "Napoli announce they have released Roberto Donadoni from the role of head coach and appointed in his place Walter Mazzarri. The club want to thank Donadoni for the work done in these months and wish him the best of luck for the future."

Donadoni, who was under contract with Napoli until June 2011, has endured a difficult spell since taking charge in March from Edy Reja, winning just four of 17 matches. The side have yet to claim a point on the road this season.

Donadoni becomes the second coach to be replaced this season in Italy's top flight, following Luciano Spalletti's departure from Roma last month.

"It was a decision that had to be taken in order to give a new spark to the Azzurri season and for the future of the team," said Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The club has not announced the terms of Mazzarri's contract. The former Reggina coach has been out of work since parting company with Sampdoria shortly, after guiding them to 13th last season.

The 47-year-old's first match in charge will be against Bologna on 18 October.

I Will Not Return As AC Milan’s Coach Once I Leave - Leonardo

AC Milan coach Leonardo has revealed that he will not return to Milan as coach after he leaves the club, but has warned the critics not to expect his departure any time soon.

"When I leave, I will not come back to be Milan's boss," he told Sportmediaset.

"I am a coach like all the others. I knew it would be a difficult season, no one forced me to take this job - I was asked and I accepted. Anyone who thinks otherwise is believing lies."

Alessandro Nesta called for humility after the Rossoneri drew with Atalanta on Sunday, and the rookie coach believes that the defender is right.

"It's difficult to argue with someone like Nesta. He wants humility and availability here, [everyone] needs to understand that this is a difficult time.

"I agree with him and I think it's important that a player who is a symbol of Milan has the right spirit."

The Diavoli face a resurgent Roma side when Serie A returns in a fortnight's time. They have struggled to beat the Giallorossi in recent years, but some sections of the Italian media believe that Leonardo could find his future resting on the result at San Siro.

How can a great club like Milan look so poor,it's unbelievable. They need some young hungry players.

They look just as poor as they did when Boban, Weah, Albertini, Leanardo and co. were aging. A year or two with the right purchases and they will be okay.
