OUTSPOKEN COACH, Geoffrey Maxwell, believes the <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 700; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Jamaica</SPAN> Football Federation (JFF) made a good decision in acquiring Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic to prepare the Reggae Boyz for the <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 700; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">South </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 700; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Africa</SPAN> World Cup in 2010.

However, he thinks the Yugoslav-born coach is being paid too much and must be made to hand pick his own local coaching staff - all of whom should come from a senior group that includes himself - to eliminate the bias that is generally associated with the process.

Also, Maxwell, a former national coach, believes there are only four to five Jamaicans with real quality to <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: orange! important; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">match</SPAN> up against CONCACAF's top teams.

"I think Bora is a good choice," said Maxwell in a recent interview.

Pointing to a discussion he had with JFF president, Crenston Boxhill, on selecting a foreign coach, Maxwell says he noted Milutinovic but "I didn't expect this type of price. "I think most of our coaches are way behind in the tactical approach of their team playing but then again you are going to hear that their team is winning the premier league. But our premier league in the last three to five years has gone down to the lower level, it is as close to a good Manning Cup or daCosta Cup game so lets not fool ourselves."

This from a man who has not won anything in the NPL for a while now and his present team is the beating stick of the entire league...hmmmmmm, maybe a large mirror would be a great Christmas gift for Geoffrey

...but, sickko has a point...a point made for him by...MAXWELL. If Maxwell claims the NPL level game is on or about the standard of a good Manning Cup game, then his not being able to raise the level of his players/TEAM - (His team is not in the top tier of the NPL!) - to a good Manning Cup game...then????

Begs the question, why would he think he is one of the coaches to take the REGGAE BOYZ to South Africa 2010? Yes, sir - Maxwell out of his own mouth puts an exclamation mark on Sickko's point!

Oh yes, CB and Downswell should be on Bora's staff...and, consideringall ourother coaches...Vin Blaine!

...yet, for all that I think Geoffrey Maxwell should get his shot on the technical staff.

No sikko.. can't agree with your approach... no king son... whats wrong with campaiging for the job or any job... its not as if he is talking falsehoods.. maxwell is really on point with his argument...

as to not winning anything recently.... that has nothing to do with his ability as a qualified coach...

RE: 'Bora' is a good choice - Maxwell

...and I gues the fact that he has not been able to hold a job for even half a season in how long, has no bearing either?

You think any Technical Committe sitting down to choose a coach to move a national team forward would seriously consider Maxwell given his recent record?

Seems like we are stuck in a 1998 mode here, same people bawling for tappa to come back.

Fact is that Maxwell has not made any local teams better for having been there and has been known to open his mouth and shove his feet down it up to his knees. This so called outspokenness has led to embarassing moments and he needs to learn when and what to say.

Who recall the semi-finals between Village and PMU when he said Roen Nelson was not a good forward and cant create goals for himself?

That might have been true but was a pre game interview by a national media house the best place to say it?

I cant forget Nelson scoring early in the game then running over to the Village bench with his index finger to his lips telling Maxwell to shut up.
