  • Adebayor accept FA charge

Emmanuel Adebayor and Manchester City have 'reluctantly accepted' a Football Association charge of violent conduct.
The Blues striker fell under the microscope on Saturday during the 4-2 victory over his former club Arsenal.
At one stage during that contest he was involved in an alleged stamping incident with Gunners forward Robin van Persie.
He was charged by the FA in the aftermath of the Premier League fixture and had until Wednesday to appeal the ruling.
Adebayor has decided against contesting the decision, with City revealing that despite still having reservations about the incident in question they too will accept any punishment handed out to their Togolese star.
    Apologised

"Manchester City announce that both the club and Emmanuel Adebayor have reluctantly accepted the violent conduct charge laid by the Football Association in the wake of the victory over Arsenal," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The player strongly maintains that he did not intend to act in a violent manner.
"He apologised on the day to Robin van Persie personally and to the wider public for the outcome of the challenge.
"We await the findings of the FA's Disciplinary Panel which is due to meet tomorrow."
Adebayor also has an improper conduct charge hanging over his head as a result of his excessive goal celebration in front of the Arsenal supporters at Eastlands.

Redknapp: Fans to blame for Ade reaction

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says Arsenal's fans are to blame for Emmanuel Adebayor's exuberant goal celebaration for Manchester City last weekend.
The former Gunners' striker has been handed an improper conduct charge by the FA, after sprinting the full length of the Eastlands pitch to celebrate his goal directly in front of the travelling supporters.
However, Spurs supremo Redknapp has backed the under-fire Togolese target-man, insisting the striker had been subject of abuse from the visiting fans up until his 80th minute header.
"I've got no time for people kicking anybody or being violent on the football pitch and he was wrong to run the length of the field," he said.
"But it's very difficult when you're getting abuse throughout the game like he was.
"It's not celebrating a goal that cause riots, it's idiots who want to start riots. If I had been standing there and we had been giving him grief all game and he did that, I would probably say 'fair play'."
Redknapp is no stranger to fan abuse, having endured plenty of it after leaving Portsmouth for arch-rivals Southampton in 2004, before re-joining Pompey a year later.
While he stood on the Fratton Park sidelines in September 2008 as Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell was subjected to a barrage of hateful abuse from Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
"Why do people need to shout abuse and cause riots?" he said.
"Why can't they just watch a game of football? I don't understand it. There's no need for it and there must be something wrong with you if you want to do that."
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)

Matters not how Harry puts it...no hurling bottles in crowd, jeering at fans, rubbing it in fans face a la Adebayor...less riots!

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been handed a three-match ban for his stamp on Arsenal forward Robin van Persie's head.
Adebayor's suspension means he will miss Sunday's Manchester derby against United, Wednesday's Carling Cup meeting with Fulham and the home Premier League date against West Ham.
Mark Hughes is now facing a striker shortage for the derby with Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho all expected to miss out through injury.
The Togo international, who left the Gunners for City in a £25million deal this summer, clashed with his former team-mate Van Persie in the second half at Eastlands.
The Football Association charged Adebayor with violent conduct after referee Mark Clattenburg admitted he had not seen the incident during the match.
City and Adebayor 'reluctantly accepted' the FA charge, although the player maintains there was no malice in his challenge and has since apologised to the Holland international.
                            Suspension

A statement on the FA's official website read: "A Regulatory Commission today considered the charge of violent conduct issued against Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor under the fast-track disciplinary procedure, following an incident with Robin van Persie during their fixture against Arsenal on the 12 September.
"Taking into consideration Mr Adebayor's acceptance of the charge of violent conduct the Regulatory Commission have ordered that he serve a three-match suspension from all football, commencing Thursday 17 September."
Adebayor could still face a further suspension after he was charged with improper conduct following his actions after netting in the 4-2 victory against the Gunners.
The forward ran the entire length of the field to celebrate directly in front of the visiting fans, causing several supporters to surge forward towards the playing area.
He issued an immediate apology following the match, claiming he had been caught up in the emotion of the moment.
The FA statement added: "A separate charge of improper conduct will be considered at a later date. "
