<P class=StoryText align=justify>MONTEGO BAY - Glenmuir High School is to make a plea to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) for the release of national Under-20 striker, James Thomas, so he can play in this Saturday's ISSA/Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup final against Frome Technical High at Jarrett Park.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Thomas, Glenmuir's top striker and team captain, is the only player from either team who has been named in the national team to face Trinidad and Tobago in a crucial CONCACAF play-off on Sunday in Kingston at the Harbour View Sports Complex. The return leg is set for next Wednesday in Trinidad.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Frome Technical's midfielder Delano Rankine had travelled with the team to Haiti for the previous round but was dropped for this home-and-away play-offs.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Glenmuir's principal, Clement Radcliffe, said the school would be petitioning the JFF to have Thomas released.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Radcliffe, who is also the president of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA), said the national team would always come first but he was hoping to have a full strength team as they would be going into Saturday's game as the "underdogs for the first time".<P class=StoryText align=justify>He said they hoped to have Thomas in their line-up on Saturday to "help level the talent in the teams". Glenmuir were beaten 3-0 by another Westmoreland school, Godfrey Stewart High, in last season's final at Jarrett Park.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The Glenmuir principal said they had put a plan in place to have the striker flown to Montego Bay for the game on Saturday and flown him back to Kingston to rejoin the national team at their base.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Dr Dean Weatherly, the coach of the national team, told the Jamaica Observer that while Thomas was not a starter they would wait until Thursday before making any decision.
"We will wait and see how he performs in training this week before making a decision," Weatherly said.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Thomas has scored five times in the schoolboys competition since the start of the Inter-Zone round. He is joint second with three other players - Rudolph Brown of Garvey Maceo, Andre Atkinson of Rusea's and Romaine Benjamin of Titchfield.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The top scorer is Ashton Bennett of Garvey Maceo who has 11 goals.
When reached, Glenmuir coach Patrick 'Jackie' Walters, said he did not wish to comment on the matter, citing the fact that he was a part of the national set up.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Weatherly meanwhile said Rankine was dropped as he was thought to have an ankle injury.
Rankine played against Clarendon College in Saturday's daCosta Cup semi-finals at STETHS, but was kept out of the previous game against Bog Walk on Saturday, November 18, after aggravating the injury early in their game against Titchfield on Tuesday, November 14.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Rankine had looked out of sorts since returning from Haiti and has limped through most of the games but is still considered a crucial part of the Frome team in their quest for a second title.

RE: Young Boyz get ready for T&T

<DIV>Met Bora at training yesterday. He jokingly berated some of the players for not saying good afternoon during a break from training, and chatted to a few of the players. I must say I am impressed with his focus. At the recent NPL end-of-round final, Bora was never distracted by people running from security guards after scaling the fence, or other such things, but kept a keen eye on the proceedings. Likewise yesterday, he watched as Sammy took the players through some "boring" fitness exercises (speed work).</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>Bora was also making some inquiries about DVDs that he would like to see, and methods to edit and view them as efficiently as possible.</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>He has also taken in at least one HVFC training session where, I've heard, that the B team was in a rare mood of actually playing tough, not the usual 50% effort. </DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>So, Bora is still here and has begun to immerse himself into local football at several levels. And that million-dollar smile is still there! </DIV>

Line up an interview, or arrange a webchat with the massive. I get a feeling Bora will be receptive to interacting with diehard fans of the boyz.
