  • Gunners cruise past Celtic

Arsenal took a major step towards securing their place in the Champions League group stages as they beat Celtic 2-0 at Celtic Park.
Celtic made a solid start to the game amid a cauldron of noise and, with Arsenal struggling to hit their stride, they looked capable of breaking the deadlock on the break.
However, the visitors eventually managed to find some sort of rhythm and stole the lead just before half-time as a Cesc Fabregas took a wicked deflection from William Gallas and found its way beyond Artur Boruc.
Arsenal always looked the more likely to extend their advantage in the second half, but they were unable to find away through until Gary Caldwell turned the ball into his own net in the 71st minute.
Tony Mowbray's men will now have to score twice at Emirates Stadium in the second leg to have any hope of progressing.

a deflection and an OG does not really constitute cruise in my book...but they are 2 valuable away goals so celtic has to win by 3...

They gave a good TEAM defense show...as Celtic had some slick passing (GUNNERS like) moves. I watch the 2nd half only and the GUNNERS looked comfortable and good.

...and Song pleases more and more. Too early to say that he can keep this up.

This youth has taken is opportunity really well, and he's been Arsenal most consistent player since January. Here is what i posted in April.
Alex Song as improved so much this season he is unrecognisable from the player who went to Charlton on loan a couple of seasons ago.I have watched him closely over the past 4 or 5 games and i'm now convinced that Arsene made the right decision not to sign Barry or Alonso. The holding midfielder everyone's been calling for is right at our fingertip.

yes spot on. He wins his share of tackle and he does not give away the ball as much. I am very pleased with him./.
