Squandered clear-cut scoring chances by both teams tarnished an exciting 0-0 draw between Jamaica and Ecuador in a friendly football international here last night at Giants Stadium.
In a fast-paced, open, attacking game, the rebuilding Reggae Boyz managed to keep the fancied South Americans off the scoresheet, despite watching Ecuador hit the crossbar twice, but must feel they too deserved the win after wasting their own opportunities.
It was Ecuador which started off brightly and managed a few early, but harmless shots at Jamaica's goal. Yet, it was the Reggae Boyz that had the first real chances to score. In the eighth minute Dane Richards split the defence with a pass to Devon Hodges, but the striker stumbled before getting off a weak shot straight to Ecuador's goalkeeper Jose Francisco Cevallos from close range.
