  • Hansen: I believe that Terry has seen his best days

Liverpool legend Alan Hansen believes that Chelsea captain John Terry would have been a good signing for Manchester City, but not a great one. The former Anfield stalwart believes the injury problems endured by Terry over the last few years has stunted his development, and unlike Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who Hansen suggests has matured into a world class defender, Terry has only been threatening to do so.
Hansen told the Daily Telegraph: “(Mark) Hughes was clearly determined to lure John Terry from Chelsea and he would have been a good buy, but I don’t believe that he would have been a great one.”

“The money that it would have taken to prize him from Chelsea is irrelevant because City’s wealth is so great.”
“But at 29, Terry has had back problems and, physically, he is not going to get better over the next two years.”

“He might go on to be Chelsea’s best player this season, but I believe that Terry has seen his best days.”
Hansen added: "While Rio Ferdinand has matured into a top-class defender, Terry has been in that bracket for almost 10 years."

To this day, I can't see why he gets that much ratings. Carvelho (sp) is better than he is .. Essien playing CD is better than he is.

For England, even though Rio made a mistake yesterday, he is much better than Terry.
