Sounders FC Invite Fans to Join National Bone Marrow Registry

The Sounders FC are hosting a bone marrow drive in honor of Real Salt Lake midfielder Andy Williams' wife, Marcia (pronounced Mar-cee-ah). Marcia has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and is receiving treatment in Seattle.

Williams, a native of Jamaica, is a close family friend with Sounders FC defender Tyrone Marshall.

WHO: Fans ages 18-60 and in good health are invited to join Tyrone Marshall and some of his teammates.

WHY: Raise awareness about the need for bone-marrow donors. Currently, 10,000 patients need a bone marrow transplant, but only 3,000 will receive one.

    WHEN: Tuesday, August 18 | 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

    WHERE: Qwest Field Plaza
The Qwest Field Plaza is located on the west side of stadium, parallel to Occidental Avenue South.

HOW: Each fan will register for the database followed by a cheek swab.

There is no charge but donations will be accepted onsite.

PARKING: Fans will be able to park complimentary in the North Lot of Qwest Field.
