In 1997 Jamaica had the infamous fight with Toros Neza in Mexico and our team was much maligned after that ugly episode - not a word was said of Neza part in starting the brawl. But for years before that and since that time Mexican clubs have shown a strong disregard for teams visiting from other countries and it's highly likely that you will end up in a wrestling match if you go to Mexico and play any of their clubs. Last night they did it again... In the copa Sud America Tolucaplayers violently went after opponents Chile's Colo Colo-a game in which (surprise surprise) Toluca was losing.
This is a Mexican tradition, Brazilian clubs fight among themselves or fight Argentine clubs and you can almost understand the natural rivalries there, but the Mexicans just attack anybody from anywhere and maybe it's their powerful media but they always come out smelling like roses with the blame often cast on the other party. But where is the CONCACAF disciplinary committee in all of this... When one little thief is the Head of CONCACAF loading his pockets and fixingtournaments for his country things like this tend to get overlooked still.
