  • Portmore meddling again???

TVJ had a news cast last night that the St Georges United management are hopping mad that they were not able to register their top striker who happens to be on tour with Portmore in Norway.

The sports cast said that when they went in to the JFF offices to register their players for the upcoming season they were told that Damion Harwood was already registered by Portmore for the season.

But hear this, St Georges are saying they have him under contract for the next two years and had not signed any release or transfere to any team.

The sportscast also said that when the St George's people raised concerns they were referred to the JFF Gen Sec....hmmmmm wonder in what capacity as we were told he relinquished all ties with Portmore United when he accepted the job as Gen Sec.

This is getting very interesting..I need to make some inqueries from the Reno people as per Gary McIntosh as well as they did say at the end of the last season year that if any of their players were to leave it would be on loan until December.

What level of responsibility is with the player? Quite strange that a man who knows he is under contract would sign with another team and then go off on tour with them.

The contract should straighten out everything, provided it was well-written in the first place.

He cant sign anything...he was asked to be part of the traveling party as a guest player like Hodges of Rivoli.

I was the general Secretary of Violet Kickers for over 10 years and it is the responsibility of the club taking the player to do the paper works and the players' signature is usually one of the last things in the process.

If Portmore is found to have even approached a player under contract they should be fined $15,000

Was he given the necessary approval to travel with Portmore from St. Georges United? They should be fined whichever way, but we all know the outcome of that with horace Reid being JFF's General Sec.

It appears he was given the green light to train and travel with Portmore for the pre-season tournament but it looks now like this was only an excuse to futher entice the players away from their clubs...just like how they go around scraping up all the youngsters with promises of scholarships and big contrcts etc...

isn't that a part a the game? The problem is if they deliver or not.

Just recently Manu was accused of the same thing with two players as they were accused of paying off parents and promising a lot.

it has been that way for a long time as the big town teams come and rob the country teams. It so happen that you had two big teams in Mobay for a while so the players stayed but not so anymore.
