  • Altidore sign for Hull City

AMERICAN idol Jozy Altidore today revealed he has signed for Hull - on Twitter!

The striker, 19, has joined the Tigers from Spanish side Villareal.

Altidore, who helped USA to the Confederations Cup final in June, will be unveiled at a press conference tomorrow afternoon.

He wrote: "First match is against Chelsea subject to a work permit.

"Thanks for the support and love. Keep it coming."

Hull boss Phil Brown has fought off competition from Fulham to make Altidore his second summer signing. Brown is also set to wrap up a £3million swoop for Stoke midfielder Seyi Olofinjana while ex-Wigan hitman Henri Camara is on trial.

Congrats to the young CONCACAF player. His game needs a bit of refining. would be better for him to start in the Championship, but a player with his size and speed will always cause defenders problems.

Agree all the way around. I think anywhere he can play regularly is a good spot for him to be in. I think the Hull situation is almost tailor made for him to get good game experience. I am glad he did not go to Fulham because I don't think he is ready for the competition they have at that position. It would take him at least a year to get himself to a point where he could challenge for pt at that club I believe. With the WC coming I don't think he can afford it right now. - T.K.
