Ricardo Gardner could be ready to hand Bolton a boost after coming through a comeback game on Wednesday night unscathed.
The talented Jamaican international has not played in Bolton's first team since suffering a serious knee injury against Tottenham in April.
Gardner impressed against Manchester City at Leyland and if his knee does not react in the next 48 hours, then he could be handed an immediate return against Arsenal at the weekend.
Bolton have been forced to use Henrik Pedersen as a makeshift left back, or alternatively, move Tal Ben Haim from a central berth to an unfamiliar wide role.
Gardner's progress will be monitored before a decision is made on Friday, as to whether he will be in Bolton's squad to face The Gunners.
