    BURRELL DEFENDS PERFORMANCE, OUTLINES INITIATIVES
BY PAUL A REID Observer writer

    Sunday, August 02, 2009
MONTEGO BAY, St James - President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Captain Horace Burrell, has come to the defence of his administration's stewardship of local football in his second stint at the helm.

BURRELL... a lot being done to build solid foundation
In the face of criticism stemming from several high- profile failures by various national teams, Burrell said a lot was being done at "tremendous cost" to build a solid foundation for future development.

Speaking at last Thursday's awards ceremony of the Western Confederation Super League at Jamaica Grandiosa Hotel in Montego Bay, Burrell named three areas where emphasis was being placed by the JFF.

He named coaching, club administration and refereeing as crucial areas where emphasis has been placed and said in the 21 months his administration has been in office, it has "accomplished a lot".

    Mr. Burrell,
Your performance may be good (as you say). The national teams performances have been poor (to put it mildly). I am more interested in the teams performance and results than the excessive talk from you. The teams performance is what the world sees, not yours.

Your performance has been pathetic and your administartion should do the decent thing and step down. The demise of football stared after 1998 and while Mr. Boxhill tried to bring some structure and strategic plan to football you undermined these plans consistently. It is time for you and your yes men to stop damaging the reggae boyz brand. Where is the Academy? While your sponsorship is indeed commendable, i think that should be your only involvement with Jamaica's football. Its definately time for Stewart Stephenson to take over the reign as i really want to start watching the Boyz again.
