JFF/KSAFA dispute hurts football – Ambassador Stephenson
Monday, 15 June 2009
The recent impasse of the sponsorship deal between the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and its largest affiliate, the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), was not good for local football.
That was the word of former KSAFA President Ambassador Stewart Stephenson who was speaking at the opening of the 2009 business house season.
According to Ambassador Stephenson, in the present economic climate, the Federation must protect the rights of both the association and sponsor.
He called on the leadership of the JFF to take a proactive approach as presently, there is no mechanism in place locally to resolve conflict in the sport that are not game related.
Ambassador Stephenson is calling for a local arbitration panel to be set up to settle future league disputes.
