Why the JFF will not give Barnes a shot a Gold Cup?

Does anyone know why the JFF did not give Barnes a shot at the Gold Cup?

Barnes has done well since taking over and while it is true that the contract ends before the Gold Cup he is on record in saying that he had time to coach at the Gold Cup before starting his new job.

Is it that the JFF does not have the money to pay Barnes?

Is it that Barnes is not attracking sponsors therefore he does not have any advantage over Tappa?

Is it that they believe that Tappa has a better chance of success a coach than Barnes?

no....that is not the case. in fact i was made to understand from a very good source that it had always been barnes' intention to coach the boyz in the gold cup.

some other dynamic is at work here.

The fact is Barnes never wanted more than a year contract and the JFF wanted someone short term. Barnes family is in England and that is where his life is. He sacrificed a year for the Jamaican TD job as he couldn't get anything else.

A few years ago when asked about the Jamaican TD job Barnes said he wasn't ready for it, he wanted to coach clubs first. Now he has got a foothold in coaching with a decent record he can get a job very close to his home, he wasn't going to turn it down and my bet is Barnes has been pushing his resume in the last months. Tranmere bearly missed the playoff and the coach seemed to be ok and was surprised at his firing. The club knew who the coach was going to be once he was gone.

Thanks to Barnes, a suh it go. We just have to get behind Tappa and wish all the best. See how he develops over the next year and hopefully hold onto some wins. It have nothing to do with sponsors or anything like that, Barnes was going to take the first oppurtunity he got in England.

Hopefully he will be of some help to us. It may have been too much to ask Barnes to be the coach of the Gold Cup because players like to know the coach is standing behind them solidly. I hope it doesn't affect our Gold Cup prep.

his pay scale is and was not a mystery to either himself or the jff from the get go not sure why it should be an issue now, even with the tranmere job as the objective had been for 1 year and for it to include the gold cup...

Better to save the expenses. No need to spend on his hotel, flight, salary or anything else.

This year's Gold Cup is going to be a serious burden on the JFF. From east coast to West coast they are playing their group games.

why hire barnes to begin with then? tappa was in charge then and is going to be in charge again and tappa has a good record...THAT would have been a monumental waste of time and money!
