The United States Adult Soccer Association, in association with US Soccer, conducts the USA national amateur championships in several different age groups for men and women.

The most prestigious are the men's US Amateur and Open championships, which date back to approximately 1900. The USASA Open is a separate competition from the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

The Milwaukee Bavarians won the Amateur championship in 1976, 2001, 2002, and 2003; and the Open championship in 2003.

In the Veterans Cup division, championships are held for men in Over 30, Over 40, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55, and Over 60.

Women compete in Over 30, Over 40, Over 50, Over 55, and Over 60.

The 2009 Veterans Cup will be held July 7-12 in Lancaster, Massachusetts.

The 2008 mens over 60 championship was won by Dallas Legends, who beat Aloha United of Hawaii 4-2.

San Diego Celtics won the womens over 60 championshp, with a 5-3 penalty kick win over Cascade Avalanche of Washington.

I qualify for four; if you're seeking players for Shady Pines FC you could buy me for some jerk chicken (no skin) with rice and peas (steamed and easy on the coconut milk) and cold beer (lite) to wash it down! when you reach a certain age you have to watch the diet.

I don't know about the rest of you all but this is the way it should be. One of the things that I miss about Chicago (I now live in Fort Lauderdale, FL) is the number of options for old people like me (and Karl) to play ball. I haven't seen that down here. My little club up there had youth teams, mens/womens teams and veterans teams in over 35, 45 and 55 categories so you could have a long playing career if you were lucky enough not to sustain any long term injury. Sad to say, my doctor says my playing days are numbered as I "will definitely need a knee replacement". Vex...tru mi still 'ave skill.
