The days of the boot room tactics board are set to be a thing of the past thanks to a revolutionary new tool to be launched soon on the UEFA Training Ground.
Tactics revolution
TactX is an application that can be used by coaches of all levels, from élite down to grassroots, to organise training drills, devise match tactics and analyse performances. Users will be able to create, edit and save player moves with high quality 3D animations developed from motion capture video which can be viewed from a number of different angles.
Big names
The launch of TactX comes ten years after the release of the popular TactFOOT package, which is used by thousands of coaches all over the world, including big names from club and international football such as Gérard Houllier and José Mourinho. This original software was also endorsed by UEFA and distributed to all member associations to be used in conjunction with their coach education programmes. TactX will go one step further and be accessible by the public via the UEFA Training Ground.
Positive response
Many coaches have already had a glimpse of the software at the UEFA Grassroots Workshop held in Hamburg in March where it received an overwhelmingly positive response. UEFA Training Ground features editor Peter Sanderson said: "We believe TactX is an application which could change the coaching world. Gone are the days when coaches have to reach for their notebook and chalkboard every time they develop a new drill or tactic. TactX allows you to put your drill or tactical plan on your computer in a very short period of time with the kind of graphics you are used to seeing on a top-of-the-range games concole. The coaches in Hamburg were queuing up to try it out and find out how they could get a copy for their national association."
Great graphics
The reaction from the grassroots managers in Hamburg was even better than expected and, without exception, they loved the ease of use and were blown away by the fantastic 3D graphics. Each national association will receive a minimum of five licences to use the application which is predicted to revolutionise the way training drills and match tactics are conveyed.
Unprecedented
The aim is to build the biggest network of football coaches in the world, a community that houses all standards of coach, from the parent who helps out at their child's school training to the élite coach with ambition and silverware at stake. The TactX community will help coaches develop skills, debate methodologies and bring together ideas that may never have previously been possible.
