Tevez-Bids farewell

Carlos Tevez has admitted he expects to leave Manchester United in the summer and would have no qualms about joining one of the Red Devils' rivals.
The Argentine forward recently strongly hinted that he will depart Old Trafford at the end of the season as he reaches the end of a two-year loan deal in the North West.
Tevez, who has made 16 Premier League starts this campaign, has grown frustrated at his inconsistent role in Sir Alex Ferguson's side and claims the club have made little effort to extend his stay.
He said: "I am very sad about this but I guess what I'm saying is goodbye.
Depart

"I don't think I will be a Manchester United player next season. I have done everything I possibly can but they have never made me an offer or given me a contract so I have to leave.
"I think I will be at another club next season.
"I have not been treated as a member of the family. I do not feel wanted. I feel bad over my situation, I do, but it's very, very difficult to stay any longer.
"The fans treat me like family but United have not signed me so they do not respect me as a footballer."
He continued: "Things have changed dramatically this season. I was dropped - yet I didn't perform badly. Sir Alex never gave me an explanation but I never asked him for one because it is not in my character.
"I accepted it but maybe Sir Alex didn't feel the same way about me. Maybe he didn't have confidence in me any more."
Former West Ham attacker Tevez, who is a crowd favourite among the United faithful, stressed he was settled in England and would consider joining another Premier League club.

He said: "It's not true my family are unhappy in England. It's not true I want to leave England for Spain. My four-year-old daughter Florencia is learning English and my wife is very happy living in England.
"We want to stay. I want to play in England because it is the best league in the world and it suits my style.
"Any club I join, whether it be Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool or Everton, will be a rival of Manchester United.
"I would like to thank the United fans for their support. They will always have a special place in my heart.
"If I was a United fan I wouldn't want to see their player in any other shirt but I think they will accept I've done everything I can."

"Now it's time for me to think about my future," Tevez says. "It's not as if I feel I have walked out of Manchester United or done something wrong. I have done everything I possibly could at Manchester but they have not offered me a contract.
"I have a great relationship with the fans and I think that everyone will understand that wherever I go I give 100 per cent – at United, like I did at West Ham, at Corinthians, at Boca. I am leaving because the circumstances have created a situation forcing me to leave.
"I want to be very clear. In the two years I have been at Manchester United I have read that I have asked for '£6 million, £9 million, £12 million, £1 million, £2 million'. But I have never, ever asked [chief executive] David Gill or Alex Ferguson – nor have I had any meeting with anyone about my contract – for money.
"Therefore when I sign for another club if anyone says 'it was impossible for Carlos to sign for Man United because he was asking for too much money' then it is not true. I know that maybe after, when I leave, people will say 'he left for money' but listen, no. Be very clear that there has not been one single meeting about my personal contract. And now it's over."
There is another rumour that Tevez wants to nail, another untruth that has prompted him to speak out. "There was an interview that said I wanted to leave and go to Spain because of my family. I want to clear that up because it's quite the opposite.
"My daughter, Florencia, is four and is learning English, speaking English – it's better than mine – and my wife Vanesa is also happy here. We are all happy in England. We like living here and want to stay here. It is the place where my family feel they want to be." And so Tevez will try and remain in the Premier League, at a club with "true ambition", where he and his family can settle down.
He has listened to Vanesa in the past, moving to Brazil, and joining Corinthians, shunning big-money offers from Europe four years ago, because she wanted to stay close to Argentina. Money, Tevez insists, isn't a motivating factor for him despite his impoverished background. Being wanted is.
It's astonishing it has come to this. Tevez, who conducts this interview in Spanish, through a translator, certainly thinks so given the success he has helped bring to United. "I was, in my first season, second top scorer, which is something people forget," he says. "When I played regularly I scored, I was playing 90 minute games.
"We won the Champions League, the Premier League but there has never been any attempt to sign me. So I started to feel a little sad because when I put on the Manchester United shirt I fight with all my heart. And still now I am fighting.
"But between last season and this season things changed dramatically. I was dropped for no real reason. I didn't perform badly. I was dropped without explanation and Sir Alex has never given me an explanation. I never went to ask for one because it's not in my character.
"I don't go and ask for an explanation when I am playing, I don't ask 'why am I playing?' so when I am left out I don't ask either. I accepted it but maybe Sir Alex didn't feel the same about me. Maybe he didn't have confidence in me anymore.
"We had success and then I was just dumped. This season I scored four goals against Blackburn in the Carling Cup and then got dropped, I came on and scored against Porto in the quarter-final [of the Champions League], and then got dropped for the away leg. I scored two against Fulham and got dropped. Whether I come on the pitch and play well or whether I come on and play OK, I know I am going to get dropped. That creates a bad feeling for me.
"And that changes your mentality because you know that if you start a game and you get to 60, 65 minutes you are looking at the substitutes board. I know that if I run my ass off, if I don't score, I score, then come 60 minutes I'm going to get taken off.
"And if I don't start then I only get 15, 20 minutes. When that happens over an entire season, then, sure, your mentality starts to get affected – you score goals, run like crazy, you get dropped. On that basis your mentality starts to change and you get demoralised. If I start, I never finish."
United and Tevez's team-mates – most recently Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick – have insisted they want him to stay and there is no bitterness from the player himself. "Clearly that gives me a good feeling that Rooney and Carrick and others have spoken well of me," Tevez says. "But the manager is the manager and it's a very difficult situation. Sometimes at a club your time is up and you have to go and that's where I am at.
"Of course you can never say zero possibility or 100 per cent possibility in football, because you never know what will happen because football changes so rapidly. But do I feel bad this year over my situation? I do. It's very, very difficult. I like Manchester, I love the fans. They are great with me, the club is great with me. But I'm not happy if I don't play and all the time I don't play."
The arrival of £32 million Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur limited his opportunities. Does he feel resentful? "It's not about Berbatov," Tevez says. "People keep comparing me to Berba. But it's not his fault. He's there and I'm not worried about me against anyone else. It's the way I have been treated that I'm upset about.
"My team-mates are professionals so don't get involved. I am also a professional. I've been on the bench and not made any fuss, any arguments. I've not arrived late or stormed off and I want to be professional until the end. I still have the desire and I will continue to fight whether I am selected on the field or on the bench until the last minute of my last game."
That end is now arriving fast. With four league games and the Champions League Final to come, Tevez's United career is quickly drawing to a close. It is set to spark an almighty scramble for his signature while Tevez's declaration that he wants to stay in the Premier League will alarm United supporters. After all it's unheard of for one of their leading players to move to a close rival. "Whichever club I go to will be a rival. They are all rivals," Tevez says.
"It's not that going to one will be more complicated than the other. If I was a fan of Manchester United and I like a player then I would not want to see him in another shirt and that probably goes for every club so whichever club I join it's going to be difficult for the fans to accept. But I think they will also understand that I have done everything that I can."
So who does he want to join? Chelsea have expressed interest. Manchester City surely will do so also while the ambition of Everton and Aston Villa cannot be discounted. And then there are Liverpool and Arsenal both looking to rebuild and challenge? "I would like to play for a club who I feel have true ambition," Tevez says. "When I sign I do my best and it doesn't matter if they are proven winners or underdogs, I believe I possess that winning mentality in every game I compete in.
"I have been fortunate enough to win competitions all over the world from championships, to cup competitions and the Olympics. I have also finished top scorer in Argentina, Brazil and the Olympics and was second to Ronaldo here last year. That said I don't have a problem playing for a club that needs to succeed."
United need to succeed also. Except next season they will have to do so without Tevez.
Where will Tevez go?
LIVERPOOL
Funds available? The money required for Tevez would take up the vast majority of Rafael Benitez's transfer budget.
Pulling power? The draw of playing alongside his fellow countryman and former West Ham team-mate Javier Mascherano would be significant.
How would he fit? Would not naturally slot into Benitez's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation but would compliment Fernando Torres in a two-man forward line.
MANCHESTER CITY
Funds available? Not a problem. Tevez's likely transfer fee of around £30 million would not trouble City's money men.
Pulling power? The fans would instantly adore him and the promise of success in the future could be a draw.
How would he fit? Could buzz around behind the target-man Hughes has in mind with the likes of Robinho and Stephen Ireland.
CHELSEA
Funds available? Have not spent the type of money required to land Tevez for four years but there may be more available for rebuilding this summer.
Pulling power? Champions League football and a decent title challenge are a given at Stamford Bridge.
How would he fit? Would combine well with either Drogba or Anelka but has no obvious home in a 4-3-3.
EVERTON
Funds available? A limited transfer kitty makes a permanent move for the Argentinian highly unlikely. The fee would double their current transfer record.~
Pulling power? Are now established challengers for a top-four place and an FA Cup final win could further boost their profile.
How would he fit in? When everyone is fit, could occupy the most advanced position behind David Moyes' lone striker or play up alongside a bigger striker

The thing is that his handlers own him like a club does. So they are not mere agents. Sir Alex' handling of the situation is what most Prem teams and mangers want. They fear that this will start a trend where teams have less control and agents eventually develop the same rights that clubs now have to players. So, in a manner of speaking, Tevez is on loan to Man U from agents and not from a club.

My gut tells me that despite all the fuss, something will get worked out and Tevez will be back with Man U. Ronaldo, though, will not be back.
