Sami Hyypia has ended speculation about his future by signing a two-year deal with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool had offered the 35-year-old, whose current deal expires this summer, the chance to remain at Anfield in a coaching capacity.
But the Finnish veteran wants to carry on playing and that led to interest from a host of Premier League and Championship clubs.
However, he has now opted to leave England after ten years on Merseyside by accepting a move to Germany with Bayer.
Hyypia passed a medical on Monday and penned a pre-contract agreement with the German outfit.
