It's all over here at the Bernabeu, Barcelona have won 6-2. They have virtually-what the heck, they have truly wrapped up the title this season. But kudos to Madrid, for trying at least, but it was class against spirit and this time class won. Adios!

    87°
They say football is a dream, football gives you a dream. On Tuesday, Chelsea's football gave you a dream to be a dishwasher, today Barcelona have given you a dream to become a pilot and soar above the earth.

    85°
    Substitution Iniesta Bojan Krkic

    85°
    Substitution Yaya Touré Busquets

    84°
    Yellow Card Javi García

    82°
The Madrid fans are leaving the Bernabeu as Gerard Pique, that Manchester United flop, makes it 6-2 to Barcelona; he somehow bundles the ball into the back of Casillas's net after a good Eto'o pass. Madrid are indeed paying for Barcelona's broken plates!

GOL GOL GOL Messi gives a short pass to Xavi, who fends off a challenge and then carves out an intelligent pass to Lionel Messi, who makes no mistake in scoring his second goal of the match. 5-2, match over, if it wasn't already.

    73°
MESSIIIIII What a pass!! Only the GREAT ZIZOU could have sent in such a cultured through pass. Sadly for Iniesta, he couldn't control it. It's still 4-2 to Barcelona, Madrid are lacking imagination.

    73°
Yellow Card Rafael Van der Vaart

Substitution Sergio Ramos Rafael Van der Vaart

Non-Spanish football followers often look down upon La Liga and label it as 'slow' and 'defence-less'. The accusations are marginally right but where in the world would you have cultured football, such grace, such silk, such elegance....These days football as an art has given away to football as a science, but here in Spain, you have football in its naive best....

    61°
    Substitution Thierry Henry Seydou Keita

    59°
    Substitution Marcelo Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

    57°
It's 4-2 now. Thierry Henry has restored Barcelona's lead. Madrid still have their work cut out..

You look at this Real Madrid side and you wonder whether they have the quality to play in the sacred White shirt. Compare player-by-player to the Barcelona team and you would notice the difference.

    48°
Andres Iniesta!!!!!!! Jingles past a host of players but his shot doesn't go into the back of the net. A message to all Madrid supporters: please do not let your kids watch this match anymore. If you do, then you would see them start supporting Barcelona, such is their power of seductive football.

    46°
The second half action has just started. Royal Madrid have to score three goals to rescue their season.

    45°
It's half time here at the Bernabeu and it's 3-1 to Barcelona. 45 minutes for Madrid to rescue their season...Hang on for the second half.

    44°
    Yellow Card Marcelo

    42°
In Spain, you have a saying 'paying for someone's broken plates'. Today Royal Madrid are paying for Messilona's broken plates.

"Gone In Nine Days - Barcelona's Nine Months Of Galactic Football" was the title of an article on Friday...tomorrow's headline: "Gone In 18 Minutes: Real Madrid's Hopelessly Hopeful Dreams Of A Third Successive Liga Crown"

    38°
    Yellow Card Puyol

    35°
Ladies and gentlemen, it's all over here at the Bernabeu. Messi has just scored Barcelona's third goal of the evening, but this time it is not his genius that has pulled off the coup but Lassana Diarra's uncharacteristic loss of possession in the midfield. It's 3-1 to Barcelona now. Title wrapped up, it seems.

    35°
    Goal Messi

    32°
Raul hits a shot from just outside the penalty area with his left foot but it is over the bar. Madrid are not letting things be controlled by Barcelona.

    32°
Messi tried a wonder chip...but Casillas is up to the challenge!

    29°
CASILLAS!!!!!!!!! Oh, you are the best goalkeeper in the world!! A Saint!! A Messiah! A lovely interplay between the world's best player Lionel Messi and the world's second best player Andres Iniesta carves out the Madrid backline but Casillas stops Messi's shot from point-blank range. The Madrid backline is in sixes and sevens. Seems like they would resort to hacking down the Barcelona players.

    26°
Messi passes the ball to Xavi who sends Eto'o through but the former Mallorca striker sees his ferocious shot saved by Casillas. Again, Casillas is seeing more of the ball than anyone else in a Madrid shirt.

    25°
Messi hits a shot but it is straight at Casillas. This is now a very open game. Remember that 3-3 draw in which Messi scored a hat-trick? Well, need I say anything more?

    25°
    Yellow Card Sergio Ramos

    23°
    Yellow Card Éric Abidal

    20°
    Goal Puyol

    20°
Oh, Madrid are going upfront in droves. Valdes makes a good save! Is there anyone in the world who is not watching this match?

    19°
GOAL GOAL GOA GOAL GOAL!! Madrid, you should learn how to defend!!!!!! How, how, how, how, how, how could you let Puyol get a free header??? How? How? How? Puyol, who has as much sense of positions as Casanova had of the number of partners he had had, Puyol who is not even as good a defender as Roberto Fabian Ayala...how?? 2-1 to Barcelona now...

    18°
GOAL GOAL GOAL GOAL GOAL GOAL!!!! Legend Thierry Henry scores!!!!! A world class pass from the world's best player Lionel Messi sends Henry though and he sends his shot past Saint Iker. Who said Messi is a big game flop? Who said Henry is past it? And who said Madrid have a very reliable defence?

    17°
    Goal Thierry Henry

    14°
Messi is sent through thanks to Sergio Ramos playing him onside. But Saint Iker comes to the rescue this time again and somehow clears the ball from outside his penalty area. What would Madrid do without Casillas? Possibly, play for a UEFA Europa League position.

    14°
GOL! GOL GOL GOAL GOAL GOAL GOL GOL GOL!!! Sergio Ramos's cross is headed in by Pipita!!! Gonzalo Higuain might not have the media serving him they serve Wayne Rooney and Peter Crouch, he might not possess the genius of a Lionel Messi...but he is class, he is quality and he certainly knows how to score!! Pipita! Pipita! Pipita!

    13°
    Goal Higuaín

    10°
It's been quite an open game so far but there have been no clear cut chances for either side. This time at least Madrid are playing football, in December's clasico, they appeared to invest all their time and energy in hacking Lionel Messi,

Eto'ooooooooooooooooooooooooo just offside..wouldn't the Cameroonian international love scoring against his former club!!

Arjen Robben seems lively and up for this match. Today Madrid need the Flying Dutchman, not the Glassman.

And here we go..........Xavi takes a shot inside the first 30 seconds but he hits it straight at his Spanish international teammate Iker Casillas...Spanish international they both might be, but today Xavi is a Catalan and Casillas is a Madrileno...

We are on the verge of the kick-off. This promises to be one enticing match...

Welcome to Goal.com's LIVE coverage of the biggest football match on the planet, the clasico between Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, one of the most exotic football stadiums in Europe. Decades of history, politics and cultural differences are at play here, but also important are three points. Barcelona lead the table by four points but a win for Madrid tonight would reduce the point deficit to just one.

      Barca put six past Real

      Barca put six past Real

Barcelona opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the table after humbling arch rivals Real Madrid 6-2 in a one-sided 'Clasico' at Real's Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

It was Real's last shot at retaining their title, but Barca outclassed their rivals with a footballing exhibition and, with just four games remaining, are now poised to win their first league title since 2006.

Real took a 14th-minute lead through Gonzalo Higuain, but Barca responded like champions and ended Real's 18-match unbeaten run with an emphatic win to clinch a league double over their foes having beaten them 2-0 at Camp Nou. Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi both grabbed a brace and centre-backs Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique were also on target as Barca ran riot in Madrid. Barca now go into their 6 May UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg match at Chelsea - with the first leg finishing 0-0 - in high spirits.

Real sprung a surprise by throwing Arjen Robben into the starting line-up for his first appearance since the Dutchman tore a muscle in his right leg during the 3-2 win over Getafe ten days ago. After facing Chelsea in Europe on 28 April, Barcelona may have had some heavy legs and Eric Abidal was one player out of sorts with the Frenchman struggling to contain the lively Robben.

With 14 minutes gone, Sergio Ramos strolled past Abidal to put in a cross and Higuain fired in his 19th goal of the season. It was a real setback for Barca, but they responded with two goals in as many minutes.

A deft chipped pass from Messi put Henry in on goal in the 18th minute and the Frenchman kept his cool to sidefoot past Iker Casillas. Real had held the lead for just four minutes and then fell behind in the 20th minute. Henry won a free-kick and Xavi floated in a great cross which captain Puyol met with a bullet header for his first goal of the season.

Real almost equalised through Robben a minute later, but thereafter were second best with Casillas keeping his team in the game, thwarting Messi on three occasions while Eto'o and Dani Alves also went close. Messi finally got his goal on 35 minutes after a terrible mistake from Lass Diarra. Xavi stole the ball off the dawdling Diarra and released Messi who prodded the ball past the overworked Real keeper.

Barca gave Real a footballing lesson for the remainder of the half with slick passing as Real chased shadows and the home fans responded with jeers. Those turned to cheers when Ramos headed in a Robben cross in the 56th minute to make it 3-2. It was a foothold in a match that should have been put to bed, but Ramos then made a terrible mess of the offside trap two minutes later and Henry chipped the ball over Casillas to restore Barca's two goal cushion.

Messi scored again in the 75th minute as Real were torn apart again and thousands of disgruntled home fans flocked out of the Bernabeu. Pique completed the scoring on 82 minutes to bring up a century of goals for Barca in the league.

That may be so...but this Barcelona is not last years Barcelona!
...and you can take that to the bank! I hope you remember I am saying this before whoever it is meets Barcelona in the CL!!!!!

...and they never will...as Sir Alex has sense and will have his X1 on the field and the crowd behind the ball if and when his BoyU meets Barcelona.

The GUNNERS cannot use that defense they used to fustrate BoyU and pick up only 1, against Barcelona. If the GUNNERS try that it will be, to today's Barcelona, picking up 10!

        Damn! Barcelona good bad!
I still cannot believe what I saw!

Ooooh Gamma TH14 looked the champion player he was!

How yuh sound suh frighten? A di first yuh see Barca since season? Yuh realise that Real's holding mid was a man that failed at Chelsea and Arsenal?

I have been watching but I thought will all the attcking flair that the back looked suspect. Well slowly I realised that the attackers were all defenders....and very, very good at it. There was hardly a need to go into crunching tackles as they had fast feet...were strong...and quick cross the ground along with superb technical skills. It was just the closest thing to complete TEAM that I have seen.

...and over the season it grew into this! They are magnificent!

OK! ...seeing you do not see it...just sit tight and watch the replay tonight at 11.30 Eastern...or await the destruction of Chelsea, BoyU...

          ... or my Arsenal.

Barça batter Madrid at the Bernabéu

Barça batter Madrid at the Bernabéu

FC Barcelona struck what may prove to be the decisive blow in the Spanish title race earning a 6-2 win at Real Madrid CF, with Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry scoring two apiece for the UEFA Champions League semi-finalists.

                Devastating response
Josep Guardiola's side's once commanding lead at the top of the Liga had shrunk to just four points before kick-off at the Santiago Bernabéu, and they had reason to be nervous just 14 minutes into tonight's fixture as an unmarked Gonzalo Higuaín headed Madrid into the lead. However, the Barça response was to be devastating, with Messi flicking a ball over the Madrid defence for Henry to level on 17 minutes before Carles Puyol headed them into a 20th-minute lead.

                Caught in possession
It was 3-1 ten minutes from the break, with Messi racing into the area to beat Iker Casillas with a shot with the outside of his left boot after Lassana Diarra had been caught in possession by Xavi Hernández. Sergio Ramos brought Madrid back into the game on 56 minutes, heading home from Arjen Robben's free-kick, but with their next meaningful attack Barça restored their lead, with Henry beating the on-rushing Casillas after Xavi's long ball took Sergio Ramos out of the game.

                Commanding lead
Defeat descended into a total rout in the closing stages, with Messi scoring his second of the night on 75 minutes, beating Casillas at his near post after more great work from Xavi. Gerard Piqué made it 6-2 eight minutes from time, scoring at the second attempt after Casillas blocked his effort from Samuel Eto'o's cross. Barça are now seven points clear at the top with four games to go.
