    RE: Girlz denied US visas

Mash down that lie...the Holmwood team as denied visas as they did not go during their stipulated appointment and I am sure this was explained and announced loud and clear for all who want to hear.

Because many coaches and managers associated with schol teams were selling visas even to criminals who had been deported from the US, ISSA and the US Embassy came together where all visas applications for Penn Relays would go through ISSA.

Many years when we got to Penn we would see teams from Jamaica listed to run yet these teams had not entered in a single track meet in Jamaica for years. And even if they went to Champs they failed to even get one athlete past the first round.

Pembroke Hall set a 'record' at Penn a few years ago where a boys 4x100m team circled the track in nearly one minute- that was the worst ever performance by a jamaican team maybe in the history of Penn Relays.

Anyways back to the point....All schools would send in their list of athletes and coaches who needed visas and ISSA would then verify that these were actual students and coaches then send the list to the US Embassy who in turn would give each team an appointment.

Holmwood did not wait for their appoinmnet and went on their own, even then most of the team did get visas.

Wilson and Chester and a few others then made a big stink in the media about the athletes who did not get visa but then the real story came out and they shut up quickly.

When last your hear any news that team going to Penn had visa applications denied????

MdmeX is not helping to spread any LIE. Since me live a farin, me only make the post based on what I recalled hearing. I do not know how the school or individuals went about to procure the Visas. I do not support certain indiscipline!!

Thanks for the clarification anyway and back to football

I cant understand the US Embassy debying visas to two members from a 18 person squad, sounds arbitrary to me.

While I do understand that any sovreign nation has the right to refuse entry to anyone 'without prejudice', how can you just simply turn down two persons from the entire team and give the others?

Maybe they need to explain on what grounds these individuals were turned down, did they have a criminal past or have they abused their visas in the past?

<DIV>The thing is coaches can't select teams weeks in advance. Why we don't hear about problems for many teams is a lot of them don't have the visa requirements that we as a country do.</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>In any case, I expect great things from the Girlz! And maybe the US Embassy did too!</DIV>

</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>An explanation from the US Embassy?!?</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>And the worst thing is, if the tournament was in Jamaica, they would be flying in on their driver's licences. If this becomes a regular practice, FIFA needs to step in and not allow offending countries to hold such tournaments. Not saying that all team members from whatever countrymust be allowed to travel so-suh-suh, but embassies must have very good reasons why such applications are denied. And let the public know those reasons!</DIV>

              RE: Girlz denied US visas

"It is the norm to wait a few days or even the day of departure to get visas, for events such as Penn Relays etc.... "

This make it the right thing to do?

Wasn't no so long ago the youth team nearly missed a tournament because they had to change flight plan as they needed US Visa or something like that for a connecting flight and at the last minute change their plans?

Is it so hard to do it a week before or in time so you can appeal the decision? I bet on appeal with some influence from some heavyweight they would have gotten it.

                RE: Girlz denied US visas

there has to be a legitimate reason why they were denied visas if all others were granted and i am presuming that all the applications were submitted at the same time...

with the frequency with which jff teams travel to the usa, i am confident that they have a system in place to secure visas... not blaming the jff here unless it is revealed that something out of the ordinary occurred... i will give the jff the benefit of the doubt here...
