RE: Girlz denied US visas
Mash down that lie...the Holmwood team as denied visas as they did not go during their stipulated appointment and I am sure this was explained and announced loud and clear for all who want to hear.
Because many coaches and managers associated with schol teams were selling visas even to criminals who had been deported from the US, ISSA and the US Embassy came together where all visas applications for Penn Relays would go through ISSA.
Many years when we got to Penn we would see teams from Jamaica listed to run yet these teams had not entered in a single track meet in Jamaica for years. And even if they went to Champs they failed to even get one athlete past the first round.
Pembroke Hall set a 'record' at Penn a few years ago where a boys 4x100m team circled the track in nearly one minute- that was the worst ever performance by a jamaican team maybe in the history of Penn Relays.
Anyways back to the point....All schools would send in their list of athletes and coaches who needed visas and ISSA would then verify that these were actual students and coaches then send the list to the US Embassy who in turn would give each team an appointment.
Holmwood did not wait for their appoinmnet and went on their own, even then most of the team did get visas.
Wilson and Chester and a few others then made a big stink in the media about the athletes who did not get visa but then the real story came out and they shut up quickly.
When last your hear any news that team going to Penn had visa applications denied????
