On the other point - how can you possibly say it was "wrongful dismissal"? Mascherano got a yellow in the RM game for "kicking the ball away" when he could have reasonably argued that he was just clearing the ball. As in that case and this one, you don't know what the ref had said to them on the field about their behaviour. Rooney was going on aggressive all afternoon, pulling down the man shorts for his first card. In the second offence, the ball would have reached Big Ben from Craven Cottage if them neva stop it first.

    I don't think you're being objective.
Well, if you want to doubt my objectivity thats on you. After Rooney was red carded and left the field, how did the game restart? Wasn't it a freekick to Manu at the halfline?

The free kick was on the OTHER SIDE (RIGHT SIDE) of the center circle, he threw it to the LEFT SIDE right past the ref. Now, you could argue that he thought that was where the kick was to be taken from as the ref gave them the advantage and he may not have realised that the kick was to be from the right. That said, why he had to throw the ball that aggressively? B-league performance.

To throw the ball from the 18 yard box to the halfline would need to power in the throw don't it? Now, if he had caught the ball and kicked it y'all would still want him yellow carded ... yet my objectivity is being questioned.

Lazie, if you believe that he didn't throw that ball aggressively then you have a career in refereeing for sure.

Throw aggressively? The man fling the ball back to get the game restarted ASAP .... people with ulterior motives will gladly see it as aggression. Madness.

Okay Lazie. If you say so. I guess I have been missing the countless other examples in thousands of hours of watching football where the ball was flung back (to get the game restarted) at a velocity that would sink a Aircraft Carrier had it come into contact with the ball. Geez Louise.

England has the worst referees God ever created, blasts Manchester United legend Crerand

Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand has leaped to the defence of Wayne Rooney who was sent-off at Fulham after hurling the ball in the direction of referee Phil Dowd.
The former Old Trafford midfielder said: 'We have a situation in England at the moment where we have the worst referees God ever created. The Paul Scholes sending-off decision, you couldn't argue with that.

'But the Rooney dismissal was a farce. United are losing, he wants to get on with the game, he picks the ball up and hurls it about 40 yards straight to Jonny Evans.
'I know the referee's in that vicinity but it landed straight at Evans' feet. And the referee sent him off.
'I think referees want to do something to be noticed and get their photo in the papers. The sending-off of Rooney got him noticed. They talk about respect but referees have got to earn it.'

                      Rooney avoids FA action

The Football Association has confirmed Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will not face any further disciplinary action following his red card at Fulham on Saturday.
Rooney was sent off for two bookable offences during his side's 2-0 defeat and although he exchanged words with referee Phil Dowd after being shown red, the official has confirmed he was not sworn at by the player.
The FA will write to Rooney, however, to issue him with a formal warning about his conduct after he punched the corner flag while leaving the pitch.
An FA spokesman said: "We have clarified with Phil Dowd that there was no abuse from the player after he was dismissed.
"In relation to the incident when he punched the corner flag, the referee did not see that and we have written to Wayne Rooney reminding him of his responsibilities."
It means Rooney will only be suspended for one game, the Premier League visit of Aston Villa to Old Trafford on 5th April.
