I contend that United's recent hiccup in the chase for the Premiership title can be reduced to the "curse of the rant". Every time a manager or a player goes out and says something negative about another team, manager, player or fans, it hurts them. Rafa's rant in January was unnecessary and it hurt the Mighty Reds. Rooney's "hate speak" against Liverpool was unnecessary and it hurt them. Slur Fartlex "check book" rant against Rafa was silly and of course, it hurt him (much thanks to Fulham). It will be interesting to see if they have all learned their lesson. The winner of the Prem may just be the team that learns to shut up and just play.
