Seems Digger Barnes was right about this new Reggae Boy. Hope to see more of him in a Jamaica shirt.
I Am Not The Saviour – Marseille’s Tyrone Mears

With only two stars as an Olympique de Marseille player under his belt before Wednesday evening, English-born Jamaican international right-back Tyrone Mears was something of an unlikely goal-hero for the Provence club as they stumbled their way past Ajax in the UEFA Cup by way of extra-time.
Mears, who is currently at the Stade Velodrome on loan from English Championship outfit Derby County, headed home from close range in the second half of the additional period but was keen to play down his role in sending OM through to the last eight.
“I am not the saviour,” he told his club’s official website. “It was an easy goal. I am very happy for the team. It was a very difficult match but we showed our commitment.”
Team-mate Mathieu Valbuena was pleased that the former Preston North End and West Ham United man was able to register. “It wasn't easy for us, in fact it was really rather difficult, but we kept going and this goal from Tyrone is a real source of joy,” the winger explained. “It hasn't been easy for him since he arrived and this goal is just recompense for him."
Mears' previous appearance from OM had been against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening – a match he felt he underperformed in. “In Paris, I felt that I lost too many balls and this time I felt I was able to apply myself properly,” he confided in L’Equipe.
The 26-year-old is likely to have a big role to play in les Phoceens’ run-in as regular right-back Laurent Bonnart has had his season ended by an adductor injury. The Stockport-born defender’s next challenge will likely be against Nantes on Saturday as OM bid to move top of Le Championnat.
