Charleston Battery signs O’Brian Woodbine, Kenji Treschuk and Tyler Hemming
Charleston SC. The USL First Division Charleston Battery has added three players to its roster for the upcoming season. Jamaican national team defender O’Brian Woodbine, midfielders Kenji Treschuk and Tyler Hemming all join the Battery pending USSF approval; all three players featured for Charleston in the recent Carolina Challenge Cup.
Jamaican defender O’Brian Woodbine joins the Charleston Battery from Jamaican Premier League side Reno FC. Woodbine, 6-0, 170 lbs., 20 yrs is a current member of the Jamaican Men’s National team.
Midfielder Kenji Treschuk arrives in Charleston after playing two years with the Seattle Sounders. Treschuk played in 53 games for Seattle scoring three goals and was a member of Seattle’s 2007 Championship winning team.
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Treschuk, 5-11, 170 lbs., 26 yrs., played college soccer at Penn State University.
Midfielder Tyler Hemming joins the Battery after spending the 2007 & 2008 seasons with Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC. Prior to turning pro Hemming was a four-year starter at Hartwick College and was named the Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Year in two consecutive years.
Hemming, 6-0, 175 lbs., 23 yrs., is a native of London, Ontario is a former member of the Canadian U20 men’s national team.

The Charleston Battery’s 2009 Home Opener is set for Saturday, April 18 versus the Montreal Impact at Blackbaud Stadium (7:30 PM, $10 - $18, (843) 971-GOAL (4625) http://www.charlestonbattery.com). Everyone in attendance will receive a free commemorative schedule cup plus there will be a season opening Fireworks Spectacular immediately following the game.
