  • JFF needs to learn that...

...no continuity with youth teams and no structure in coaching and player development will render failure and poor results at every WC qualification level. I was just reviewing Trinidad and Tobago's U-20 team roster and noticed the core of that squad went to the U-17 WC in Korea in '07. The same team participated in this tourney and were successful in getting one of Concacaf's spots at this years U-20 WC. They went on tour to Brazil a month before and played a number of matches in the build up to this qualification tourney. The point here is they invested time, money, proper coaching and there was continuity since the core played together for the last 2-3 years. Now why is it this federation cannot begin to see that youth football development is key to successful future NT's? What is so difficult to understand about that? Get the proper people to coach at U-17 and U-20 levels a couple years in advance of these tourneys which will give youth teams the best possible preparation for qualification to future WC's. The talent is there, but there is no organization no structure. Any team that concedes 8 goals while only scoring 2 doesnt deserve to go to a WC. The US didnt concede any goals. They played compact and defended like a team. Honduras only conceded 2 goals while scoring 6. Really how hard is this to understand? Granted nothing is guaranteed but damn anyone with half a brain can see this. Its no wonder that the youth teams dont often qualify for WC's then how can we expect the senior team to follow suit?

A vision but no plan for development

I normally do not public comment on these type of sad and hurting situations for the coaches and players in Jamaica but I am compell too.

I watched the Canada match against the U20 side a few days ago and felt again bad for Jamaica as the match was a disaster as far are the tactical part of the game was played. I began to pray. Oh Lord here it goes again same old same old. No much has happened for football development in Jamaica and the proof again is revealed by what we are seeing today. Local boys giving what they think their all is, but have no idea about what's happening on the world seen and for that matter possible the 'coaching staff' with regards how to play going forward tactically and closing their opponents down. They are just not getting the coaching development they need and should have been receiving in their Youth days. No plan, no vision of football and no way to implement with eye that are blind..............If only Jesus would come along and put a bit of mud on the eyes all could go forth.

You are correct with most of what you say. Those conducting the band (the football side) see what they would like to have but you can't play music with no band leaders and instruments (players) that sound good and blend together to make the music.

These player on the U20 team will never see a senior side game because no development will take place either in coaching or in playing. What was thought to be a good chance to go to Egypt and South Africa did not holding up. A beautiful vision but no development for many years. Everyone blames each other on why the JFF, or the Coach or the players are not getting us there. No leader no music. Prayer does work BUT faith without 'WORKS' is dead, so no good music no football.

I had a young coach who took one of our GSM Coaching course last May. Nice young man who represented his country as a U20 player. A Cornwall player. He was from Montego Bay and coaches high school football in that area. After the tournment was over there was nothing for him, so he said. He never heard back from those in charge of the program. He hurt and many others along with him, so he said. Jut listening to I was hurting. No football development no music. The Reggae local boyz are no able to play because of all you said. Keep being positive and share your good opinions. Enough for now from my end.

    Trust you are well Mosiah..................

    Best wishes and God bless.

I guess we can excuse John Barnes and others for seeking out Jamaicans living abroad for our national team.

I'm good, Coach! Extremely busy, and busy with things I'd rather not be busy with.

      Talk to you soon!
