There is definately a stigma attached,i've seen so many young players get rejected by clubs because they are seen to be small.

Vernan is a solid young player who i am a big fan of. I'll say this..its nice that DC United has offered him a trial. I actually like the fact that he is getting interest but the problem I have with MLS football is this:

      1. They dont pay the talented players well. except for marketable players like Becks
      2. The clubs do not own the contract rights of its players and therefore have no say so in acceptance of transfer offers.

      3. Transfer activity of a player to any league is solely dependent on MLS and its valuation of the player. Too much politics if u ask me.

I really hope that Vernan gets a solid european based agent as opposed to one this side of the world. If he gets a decent offer I hope he negotiates a short term deal maybe for 2-3 yrs max and has an opt out clause should any decent european team come in for him. Agents should always look out for their clients best interests.

I dont need to remind anyone what MLS did to Shalrie Joseph's career when Celtic came in for him after MLS rejected the 1M offer. Bottomline..MLS shoulnt be the first option for any young player who has a bright future in football.

Zeppo, no disrespect to the MLS it's getting better, but its not quite there yet. As far as those offers are concerned, obviously England is out of the question. What I'm alluding to is that his agent should be shopping him to other european teams; more than likely, he doesn't even have a decent agent.

Remove the word decent and you could be on point.
