  • A major hurdle in JFF critical path to "success"

    Well here we are again, even though we did not make the Hex and the 2010 WC, we are at a point where we can build a seriously competitive side that can make the JFF a bag of money and keep Ja in top shape till the next qualifying, that is developing a team that everyone will want to play before the next world cup.

    We have a massive role to play in achieving that and so here we are at a match where already our competition is starting to talk trash, they are highly ranked and they have some very overrated players, (well some very good players)

    Last time we were here we played England and went on a downward spiral from there with massive losses to overated teams, we are are just begining to see the light of day from that dark age, now here comes Nigeria, we need to make sure our youths are mentally prepared for a tough game, we need to use the same fundamental principles we have been using in the recent past, hardcore no compromise defense, active in your face agressive midfield and fast and furious counterattack is there really a defense for that combination, but it starts first with mental preparation.

    Anything less than a strong, physically agressive game with at least a very competive showing will be a strong blow to where we need to be going. I hope Mr Barnes is ready to go and is not distracted in being in the Motherland for this game and getting his little cockney twang on, chitchatting with his journalist buddies about bringing the Liverpool light to the recesses of the third world.

    This is the hurdle into the top 50 of the FIFA ranking, we need to beat Nigeria.

    Here is my starting 11

    Sawyers
    Marshall, Davis, Stewart, Phillips
    Austin, Morrison, Campbell Ryce, Daley
    Richards, Shelton

    This side is big, combative, fast and will give Nigeria fits.

    FULL SQUAD: Goalkeepers – Dwayne Miller (Harbour View FC), Shawn Sawyers (Portmore United);
    Defenders - Tyrone Marshall (Toronto FC), Claude Davis (Derby County), Damion Stewart, (Queens Park Rangers), Tyrone Mears (Marseille, France), Eric Vernan (Portmore United), Demar Phillips (Aelesunds, Norway);
    Midfielders- Rodolph Austin (SK Brann), Jason Morrison (Ferencvaros), Jermaine Johnson (Sheffield Wednesday), Wolry Wolfe (Portmore United), Omar Daley (Bradford City), Jamal Campbell-Ryce (Barnsley);
    Forwards - Marlon King (Middlesbrough), Dane Richards (Red Bull New York), Deon Burton (Charlton Athletic), Zavon Hines (West Ham United) and Luton Shelton (Aalborg, Denmark).

    I can only hope the goalie them dress right. It is a good thing most a the players are based in cold countries cause me relative them say

    LONDON COULL bad, game might be played under snowy conditions.

      Here is the problem with your selection - Two of those at the back in front of our last defender are very slow. One is slow!

      The three in the middle and the two upfront lose the ball too often and too easily!

      The last defender i.e. our 'keeper is an unkown quantity.

      I would love to be proved wrong! ...but I would bet my last dollar on my assessment of these our players you named.

        Marshall is injured so i think Tyrone Mears will play right back and King will start.

          This keeper is better than Ricketts. He just does not have the exposure at this level. Remember him against Mexico in the last Gold Cup? If I am not mistaken, that may have been the last competitive game he had at the international level.
