Donovan leads USA roster for World Cup qualifier
Landon Donovan leads the list of 20 players practicing in preparation for the U.S. men's soccer team's World Cup qualifier against Mexico on Wednesday.
Coach Bob Bradley announced the roster Sunday. Eighteen of the players participated in the first two rounds of World Cup qualifying last year.

The Americans will play Mexico at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio to open the final round of regional qualifying. The top three teams from among the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Trinidad and Tobago, automatically advance to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The fourth-place team will compete in a two-game playoff Nov. 14 and 18 against the fifth-place finisher in South American qualifying.
Donovan has the most international experience on the roster with 105 appearances. He's the United States' career leader in goals and assists and is one goal shy of tying Brian McBride for the most goals in World Cup qualifying (10). Donovan has been particularly tough against Mexico with four goals, including one in the 2002 World Cup. Howard was the 2008 U.S. Soccer male athlete of the year. He's unbeaten in four matches against Mexico and has an impressive five shutouts in World Cup qualifying appearances.
