Football coaching school opens door today
    Saturday, February 07, 2009
The JFF/UTech Coaching School will have its orientation today at UTech's Lecture Theatre 23 (LT23) of the Faculty of Health and Applied Science starting at 9:00 am.

Among the speakers will be programme director Dr Winston Dawes, associate programme director Roy Thomas, acting head of the department of Science and Mathematics, Faculty of Health and Applied Science at the university Dr Colin Gyles and Lecturer Vin Blaine.

The Coaching School is consistent with the JFF's mandate coming out of the 2007 Congress to improve the sport at all levels in the country. This school will incorporate present coaches who have minimal formal training, Physical Education teachers who want to upgrade their skills and individuals new to the field who wish to make coaching a career.

In September 2008, the federation was the first of 10 Caribbean countries to host a FIFA/MA Referees Course. That five-day course saw a participation of 30 senior referees from across the island.

The FIFA/MA Referees Course was followed by a five-day FIFA Member Association Administrative Upgrade Course in October. Then a total of 34 participants including presidents, general secretaries and office administrators from the 13 parish associations of the federation as well as key managers from the secretariat of the JFF participated.
