    Reading releases Bobby Convey

READING, England (AP)—Bobby Convey was released Friday by Reading after failing to regain a place in the Royals’ starting lineup.
The 25-year-old American midfielder joined the club from D.C. United in July 2004 and two years later was among the few U.S. players who impressed at the World Cup.
Sidelined for most of the 2006-07 season after knee operations, Convey failed to recapture his best form and didn’t make an appearance for Reading in League Championship play this season. He scored seven goals in 103 league and cup appearances for the club.
“Things haven’t worked out for Bobby recently, but he will always have a place in the club’s history,” Royals director of football Nick Hammond said. “We wish him all the best for his future career.”

Since his injuries he doesn't quite have the same spark. He still has the neat touch. MLS should try to bring him back if he has the slightest interest.

Rumor has him going to the San Jose Earthquakes.

The problem with the US outplayers is not about PLAYING TEAM to full potential. The problem is they cannot play TEAM to any high degree because of failure in technical competence.

When our players get that same commitment to TEAM that theUS players have we'll start throwing up stars 'lacka grains avf san pon di sea-shore'!

Karl with all due respect this is nothing but foolishness.

What technical competence? Convey was doing fine until his injury so too was beasley.

The fact is the MLS is way below the standard in England so some players make the grade and others don't. Brian Mcbride and Dempsey had no problem. You have players who don't make it to teams for different reasons like t he coach is not impressed with you, just like Claude Davis who was a EPL player and is seen as surplus at Derby and Luton Shelton who couldn't do anything to get chances at Sheffield United yet is wanted by a UEFA team.

                Exactly.

Convey was a success with Reading but constant injuries derailed his career. He is still held in high regard by their fans.

Here's what he could do when fit:

                  Soft and fetid bullcrap!

Zeppo, we need you to keep us informed of the movement of American players, even when that movement takes them thru the door. You serve no other purpose here, so...get with it!

                  Thanks!
