LONDON, England – The Jamaican defender Claude Davis has gone to Crystal Palace from Derby on a one-month loan, a move that reunites him with his former boss Neil Warnock.
The agreement, finalized on Monday, beat the transfer deadline and is expected to give the 29-year-old central defender more playing time in the English League Championship.
It was Warnock who originally took Davis to Sheffield United in 2006 after he had made a big impression during his time at Preston North End .
Derby bought Davis from Sheffield United for £3 million in the summer of 2007 but a combination of injuries and a lack of form limited his playing time for the Pride Park outfit.
He made only 32 appearances since his arrival at Sheffield United.
Davis had moved from PNE to Sheffield for £2.5 million.
The 6-foot-3-inch defender first arrived in England at Preston on loan and joined permanently in March 2004.
He has 47 caps for Jamaica and goes straight into the Crystal Palace squad for this weekend’s match against Barnsley at Oakwell as the Eagles look to boost their promotion hopes.
Palace are 12th in the League Championship table with 40 points, while Derby are near the drop zone – 18th with 32 points.
Wolves are leaders on 62 points, four ahead of Reading.
