<P class=StoryText align=justify>Wayne Chen, the CEO of Super Plus Food chain, unveiled a $1.674-m sponsorship for the South Central Confederation Super League at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville on Monday.<P class=StoryText align=justify>This sponsorship signals SuperPlus' fourth year of involvement with the Super League and this season will see the champions receiving $250,000 in addition to the SuperPlus Trophy.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The second-placed team will pocket $125,000, third place, $75,000, and fourth place, $50,000.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The mid-season champions will receive $35,000. In addition, over $60,000 will go towards individual awards.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The league kicks off on Saturday with a double-header at Brooks Park in Mandeville with recently demoted National Premier League team Rivoli facing newly promoted Tafari Lions of St Elizabeth in the curtain-raiser, and Los Perfectos versus newcomers Newlands in the feature game at 3:30 pm.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The winners of this competition will compete in a play-off with the winners of the other Confederations for a place in next season's National Premier League competition.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Referees' fees of $654,000 and administrative expenses will consume most of the balance, except for $240,000 which will be paid to clubs as logo fees.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The competition will have 12 teams in Rivoli, Dunbeholden, Arlington and newcomers Newlands from St Catherine; Humble Lions, Sporting Central and newcomers Original Hazard from Clarendon; Los Perfectos, George's Valley and newcomers New Green from Manchester, and Value P and newcomers Tafari Lions from St Elizabeth.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The format of the competition will have two zones of six teams each competing on a home-and-away basis with a one-way tie in cross-zone matches and the top two teams from each zone competing in two-way semi-finals.
The competition is expected to last approximately five months.<P class=StoryText align=justify>South Central Confed chairman Dale Spencer thanked the sponsors and urged the clubs to be disciplined and to represent the Confederation with distinction.
