Under-20s will need support

Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president, Captain Horace Burrell, has appealed to the general public for its support, following the success of the national under-20 team in qualifying for the final round of the CONCACAF World Youth Cup play-offs earlier this week.
The JFF boss, while expressing satisfaction with the feat, made it absolutely clear that financial assistance will be crucial for the cash- strapped organisation if the team is to qualify for the World Cup.
"Getting the necessary financial support to allow this very talented group to play a series of friendly internationals before the final phase of the tournament, which commences in Trinidad in March, will be very important," said Burrell.
The JFF head, who spoke to STAR SPORTS from New York, where he is attending a CONCACAF meeting, added: "And, therefore, we are calling on all to give whatever support they can to help us to prepare this squad properly."
"We are also calling on corporate Jamaica," he said while giving "special thanks to Minister Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, who assisted us in sending this team to the recently concluded tournament in St Vincent".

In the Caribbean Football Union final round, Jamaica defeated host St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-0 on Tuesday to top the group with seven points.
In the earlier matches, the young Boyz beat the Dominican Republic 4-1 and drew 1-1 with Haiti.
Burrell stressed: "The new JFF always has as its primary objective the development of football in Jamaica at all levels, and with this objective in mind, we are very happy our under-20 team has been able to quality for the final round of this most important tournament."
The JFF boss pointed out that the federation had been left in even more dire straights, due to the hosting of the Digicel Caribbean Football Final round, which turned out to be a disaster from a financial perspective.
"We were pushed further into the red because of the low crowd turnout, which resulted in financial disaster for us, as we were responsible for the accommodation of all the eight finalists," he added.
Having said that, however, Burrell stressed that the JFF was pleased with the national team's achievement and the subsequent move upward in the FIFA world ranking.
"We are very satisfied with the result and with the position we now find ourselves in," he told STAR Sports.
