Warner hails 2008, warns of tough 2009 for T&T

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) - Trinidad & Tobago football czar Jack Warner has hailed 2008 as a success for the sport in the country but says demanding times lay ahead in the coming year, as T&T aim to reach their second successive FIFA World Cup.

"Two thousand and nine will be another challenging year. Our Soca Warriors begin their qualifying campaign on February 11 in El Salvador. Our Under-20 team will be looking to qualify in March for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt," said Warner, a special adviser to the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation (TTFF).
"Our youth and women's teams will continue on their development path, with programmes designed for long-term success. Exciting times are ahead of us with the coming on board of our beloved icon Latas (Russell Latapy) to contribute in a different way to our success."
