    This is old news but the U20 team will soon have some qualifying games. Word that I have been hearing is not really that good about the preparation and even their last games.

    I would love to see someone like T. Whitmore take over this program and develop these players for international competition. With no technical director, these youths don't seem to be developing to their potential yet.

    Six schoolboys named in U-20 Reggae Boyz squad

    Six schoolboys were yesterday named in a 25-man Under-20 squad to continue preparation for the final stage of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) which takes place in St Vincent and the Grenadines from January 7-14.

    Among the five are St George's College attacking player, Shamar Shelton who was getting his first opportunity to compete for a national age-group team.

    First-string goalkeeper Andre Blake (Clarendon College), defender Leaunghn Williams (Lennon High), forwards Andre Steele (Bridgeport High) and McKauly Tulloch of Kingston College are also among the schoolboys invited.

    The group will go into camp next Monday to Wednesday. Following a brief break for Christmas, the players will return to camp on Saturday, December 27, where they will remain until they depart for the tournament on Wednesday January 7, 2009.

    The Young Reggae Boyz are drawn with the host country, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

    Jamaica open their campaign on Friday January 9, 2009 against Haiti in the opening game of a double-header at 6:00 pm. St Vincent and the Grenadines will go up against the Dominican Republic in the feature at 8:00 pm.

    On Sunday, January 11, 2009, Jamaica play their second game, again the opening encounter against the Dominican Republic, before St Vincent and the Grenadines and Haiti face each other.

    Jamaica will close out the qualifiers in the feature game against the hosts at 8:00 pm following the opener between Haiti and the Dominican Republic before returning home on Wednesday, January 14, 2009.
