Manchester City striker Robinho believes that some of the tackles he has had to endure in his brief time in the Premier League are 'animalistic'.
The Brazilian signed on the final day of the transfer window for a British record £32.5million following the club's takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
Since his sensational arrival the 24-year-old has scored nine times in all competitions following his switch from Real Madrid.
Getting used to the English weather is one thing, but Robinho claims he is amazed at how many aggressive challenges go unpunished in the Premier League.
"English football is played at dizzying speed," he said in The Sun. "I have got used to the cold but it is more difficult to play when it is raining.
"I thought I would find it harder to adapt than I have. But I haven't got used to the kickings I've taken.
"When I first came over I was surprised the referees did not even blow for a foul when I was kicked in animalistic style. It was truly unbelievable.
"But I am playing well despite being kicked so much and I have scored nine goals."
The Brazil international does have some positive things to say about the
English game and admits that he was taken aback by how fanatical the supporters are.
Magnificent
"The atmosphere in the stadiums is magnificent," Robinho added.
"Supporters in Spain are more like theatre-goers, while over here people celebrate when we win a corner almost as much as when we score a goal."
Robinho has travelled with Mark Hughes' squad for their final Uefa Cup game in Spain against Racing Santander on Thursday.
The former Santos and Real Madrid ace has been suffering with an ankle injury in recent weeks and Hughes may leave his star striker out with City's qualification into the last 32 of the competition already secured.
Robinho is pleased with the club's performances in Europe this season but hopes that new signings in the January transfer window will fire his side up the Premier League table.
"We are doing well in the Uefa Cup. We need to get much better in the league," added Robinho.
"Our squad is good and possesses quality but we are still lacking a lot of cohesion.
"Mark Hughes is struggling to assemble a good team and I hope he succeeds this season with the aid of the signings he'll make in January.
"And that is with no disrespect to the players currently in the squad, who are working very hard."
