Whitmore (64th), Geddes (75th)<P class=StoryText align=justify>MONTEGO BAY - Seba's coach Geoffrey Maxwell was left almost speechless as he watched his team gave up a 2-1 lead to eventually lose 3-2 to Reno in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) fixture at Jarrett Park on Sunday night.
Veteran striker Kirk Wright scored once in each half to lead Reno to a pulsating win and overshadowed an outstanding performance by the former national captain Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore.
Ricardo Scott kept up his impressive scoring rate off the bench while Whitmore and Ricardo Geddes scored for Seba.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Maxwell, the itinerant coach, could only shake his head in disappointment and even managed a laugh as he gave post match comments.
"There is nothing I can say," Maxwell told the Observer, "I can only laugh."<P class=StoryText align=justify>But he could only find words of praise for former Reggae Boy Whitmore, whose crowning moment in football came when he scored two goals for Jamaica in a 2-1 win over Japan in the France '98 World Cup Finals.<P class=StoryText align=justify>"Tappa did well. In the second half he played much better than the first half. Otherwise from that I don't know what to tell you, I can't blame lack of team speed, just head space," Maxwell lamented.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Wendell Downswell, former national head coach, was upbeat with the way in which his Reno team played. "It was a classy match up... the game was played in true spirit (of competition)," he said.
Downswell attributed his team's performance to a positive week of training leading up to the western match-up.
Reno looked the better team through out the game, getting to the ball quicker and were more patient in their build-up. Seba, on the other hand, could have been affected by the number of changes to the usual starting side.
Seba's woes worsened when former Portmore United striker Andrew Morrison had to be taken off in the 18th minute after he sustained a gash to his face. He returned to the field of play after the bleeding stopped, but was ordered off by Dr Garfield Campbell.
Wright gave Reno the lead in the 26th minute when his delicate flashing header from a corner beat goalkeeper
Loxley Reid who was making his first start for Seba this season.
Led by Whitmore's deft dribbling and pinpoint passing, Seba stormed back in the second half to take control of the game. Whitmore levelled the score when he rifled home after a quick, short pass from Iton Scott.
Geddes, who had replaced Norman Woolery at the start of the second half, gave the home team the lead in the 75th when his long-range shot curled past Duwayne Kerr.
But Reno hit back with two goals within a two minute span to snatch all three points.
Omar Johnson raced away from Geddes down the right flank to square into the Seba penalty box where Scott headed past Reid for the equaliser in the 83rd minute. Two minutes later Wright got his second of the match when he tapped into a open goal as the Seba defence appeared caught off guard.
