Are you saying that the official match card submmited by the JFF to match officials at the Stadium named John Barnes as coach for this game?

*That above is the official match card FIFA received from the referee. That match card had to have been presented to the referee by the duly authorised JFF person...usually the coach or whomsoever the JFF so designated! Now the coach gets his authority from his national association...in this case our JFF.

Do you think either Tappa, Barnes or any other JFF person on the bench (any of the JFF's appointed 'bench staff') would have gone against the JFF's wishes?

      I know what I believe!
      Respek, Sir Dweetsweet!

btw - What got my raised eyebrow was the stating of JB as representing ENGLAND. It has been my experience every last single occasion that the coach/TD is always listed as representing the country of his team. ...and could it ever be any other way?
Maybe FIFA's mistake in the reproduction?

I have the official match card right here and it lists Tappa as coach.

I hope your's is the Official Match Card with the area of signatures removed or you were unable to scan the entire card.

The Official Cards must have signatures...and recorded time of subs, cautions, etc.

Karl, not getting into the technicalities with you. The attached were given out to press at the stadium. I suppose they would have been issued to the teams as well. What the coaches and officials do with them at whatever point, is not my concern, but I would consider these, being a real document, the official match card. What you gave us is an arrangement of pixels.

John Barnes was not even on the field much less the bench, so I don't know how he could have been considered the coach. Tappa was announced as the coach. It was Tappa who attended the post-match press conference as the coach.

So, with all that info, I'll leave it to you as to which one is the official match card.

Sorry Mosiah - I frankly do not care about what is presented here. I am wondering on how could it be FIFA got that information...or if FIFA made a hash of reproducing that info for the records?

I find it strange that FIFA could have got and or put up that "Barnes - ENG" stuff when I thought it would have been Whitmore - Jamaica...and even if someone had passed on a match card with Barnes...then as unfair as it would be to Tappa, it should have then been Barnes - Jamaica

Well, you are here telling me about official match cards having signatures, only to produce your official match cards that are void of same!

                      Someting not wite.

                        FIFA's record keeping!
The info is taken from the match card and arranged in the manner FIFA uses. You do realise that the info is 'formatted in three other languages...and put up on each version on the FIFA site?

Anyway because the info is 'copied' into the FIFA layout...that is why I wondered on FIFA not 'copying' the info correctly...but even that not copying correctly would be strange. How could someone (some clerk) in FIFA's organisation, perhaps not even caring a fig about our match...and having only a match card before him/her make such a mistake? Does not appear possible!
                        It is puzzling!

barnes was appointed on November 1 in whatever capacity therefore OFFICIALLY he occupies that position. in fact he took the senior team to cayman in that position...

tappa's as coach for the canada game was to me an informal arrangement and out of respect for the job he had done in the interim...therefore whatever the match card may say, until barnes is fired or quits he is the official head coach.
