  • Marlon King out for the rest of the season

Watford striker Marlon King has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee problem.

The 26-year-old has not played since sustaining the injury in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on October 14.

King signed for the club Nottingham Forest for £500,000 in December last year having spent the early part of the campaign on loan at Vicarage Road.

He scored 22 goals to help get Hornets promoted to the Premiership last season and had found the net twice in eight top-flight matches before his injury.

'The news about Marlon is a big blow, but it is important we carry on winning without him,' said manager Adrian Boothroyd.

'Marlon is a great presence in the dressing room, and this will not be the last we see of him.

'I am convinced that, after what we have done today, Marlon will come back next season and play his part for us - in the Premiership.

'We will have to bring in another player when the transfer window re-opens in January, and we have a few ideas, but we proved today we can win without him.

If that's the way the JFF looks at Kings' current misfortune...it would further comfirm their short-sightedness
