  • Disrespect directed at the Jakan team!???

Or am I reading this wrong?? It is not clear but it seems like something is being said.

    Canadian coach talking below.

Canada found itself in a group with Jamaica, Mexico and Honduras in second-round of qualifying in the CONCACAF region, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean. The top two teams advance to the next round.
A disappointing 1-1 tie at home against Jamaica in August put Canada behind the eight-ball early. The team then lost the next three games.
That resulted in players like Jim Brennan and De Rosario criticizing Mitchell.
Mitchell said the whole process has been a learning experience.
"I'm disappointed like everybody else about one thing, that we won't be playing (World Cup qualifying) in 2009" he said. "I feel like the team is among the six best teams in CONCACAF. We weren't able to put two of the also six best teams in CONCACAF behind us during the qualifying process.

Disrespect because is so him feel? Nothing wrong if him see him team being a better team than JA and us not being in the top 6 teams. We have to deal with them to prove otherwise.

I dont think there's any disrespect in that comment made by their coach. Its his opinion and he's entitled to it. But the fact is they're eliminated and realistically the six best teams in Concacaf will be tha ones competing for WC berths in '09.

Well, he is saying that his team is in the top 6 and saying two other teams in the group are in the top 6 but doesn't specify seeing we haven't beat Canada yet he is calling us out, hinting in a slight and ever so coy manner that we are not in the top 6, that is disrespect to me!!
Especially coming from a team that barely has two points from 5 matches.

Maybe that is his intent anyway, try to stir the dust a little, the man dem need to go into this match prepared to execute well and play shutdown D, counterattack football especially out of the midfield, capitalise on their mistakes and inexperience, while totally minimizing ours with that approach, please no slow pokes in midfield for this match, "pure blood" combat ready Maroon warriors for this match!!

            Stonigut,

Any coach with the calibre of players that Canada has will say that. It isnt a slight or a disrespect, on paper Canada is better than most teams in Concacaf outside of USA, Mexico and Honduras but the game isnt played on paper, its played on tha football field and theyve failed every single WC cycle over tha last 2 decades.

The point tally they have right now is tha same tally they had in 2000 right after they won the Concacaf Gold Cup title that same yr. Trinidad and Tobago eliminated them with a 4-0 spanking in Port of Spain. The cycle after that was Guatemala. Again let tha coach talk all he wants he's entitled to say anything but the boyz will do the talking on tha field.

Thats their problem. All we have to do is play solid team football without any mental lapse in concentration and we will get the win.

                You read that right!

We weren't able to put two of the also six best teams in CONCACAF behind us during the qualifying process.
Is he saying the REGGAE BOYZ and Honduras are number 5 & 6?
I am thinking that 5 of his "six best" would be; Mexico, USA as his top two...and with Jamaica, Honduras and his Canada accounted for in his 'sayings' then the other, in my opinion, could only be Costa Rica

...anyway, speculation aside - He is saying that our group is really the "group of death". He is saying four of the "six best" are in this "group of death".

                We must win Wednesday!
...in that Honduras vs Mexico match the chips shall fall where they may. God willing Mexico wins and the Reggae Boyz based on taking care of their business rides into the Hex!
                FORWARD!

Good...but if we go in playing 'counter attacking football' as the plan we shall be playing into Canada's wish. We must play good possession football...attacking at will...and when the ball is won on defense, counter attack swiftly and hit Canada hard - score and often from those counter attacks!

No sitting back and allowing Canada to consistently come at us! Canada it is that must be ATTACKed consistently and put in DISARRAY!
                  Forward!
