Canada arrive early for World Cup Qualifier against Jamaica

Showing that they are quick learners, Jamaica’s next opponents in the World Cup qualifiers, Canada, have decided to arrive early for their game.

Honduras arrived the evening before their scheduled game against the Reggae Boyz on October 15 while Mexico arrived two days before their October 11 encounter. Normally visiting teams arrive in the host country two days before their games but the Canadians are booked to arrive a full four days before the November 19 encounter against the Reggae Boys.

This matchup, the final in this round of qualifiers is crucial for both teams. While the Canadians have already lost all hope of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, they will still be playing for pride. In their five matches so far the Canadians have only managed two draws so far against Jamaica and Mexico – both at home. Having invested a lot to gather their strongest team together, the Canadians were hoping to advance to their second World Cup finals and a loss would further damage their standing in the region and internationally.

The Reggae Boyz are still in with a chance and a big win against the Canadians would go a long way in securing their position. Their advancement also hinges on the outcome of the Honduras/Mexico game which will be played simultaneously with the Jamaica/Canada clash. If both Jamaica and Mexico win then both countries would advance to the group of six while a loss for Mexico would require Jamaica to win by a margin which would wipe away their goal deficit.

Currently, the Mexicans who are on 10 points, one more than Honduras and three more than Jamaica have the best goal difference of plus four in the group. Honduras are second with plus three while Jamaica are in a more difficult position with minus three.

For the game which will begin at 8:00pm, the four officials are from El Salvador. The Referee is Joel Antonio Aguilar Chicas and he will be assisted by Assistant One William Alexander Tores Mejia and Assistant Two Juan Francisco Zumba Galan while Elmer Arturo Bonilla Ruiz will serve as the Fourth Official. Brian Hall of the United States will assess the referees while the Guatemalan Mario Roberto Monterrosa Tabarinini will be the match commoissioner.
Bermudan Davis Sabir will be the Security Officer.

I hope Burrell extend our usual courtesies to our Canadian "friends" and show them our lovely island. As you rightly said Mr. Gamma, I think Hedo II would be an ideal location to host our guests. They also need to try out our "massage" parlours and while they are at it, sample some of our easily accessible national plant. Our visitors should be assigned a guide who'll expose them to some of our culture, namely Passa-Passa and other such activities. Let's welcome our visitors with open arms.

Canada withdrew and allowed us to go to a Gold Cup when we were preparing for World Cup 98/ Show then some respect and replace the plant with the national drink (that legal clear liquid white stuff.)

Yes - Let's welcome our visitors with open arms.

No Dwayne De Rosario? No Rob Friend? No Ali Gerba?

Not a very strong squad here. Good news for Jamaica.

Oh yeah. Forgot about De Guzman.

Looks like a reserve midfield and a reserve attack.

Gbeke is a handfull. That team that they picked is not as talented and it is a bit young, but they have quite a few hard running folks.
